I sighed and looked at Snake over the application he handed me.

"Are you really sure this is necessary?" I asked

He nodded as he looked through the stacks of old magazines someone had dropped off.

"How does my application look?" he asked.

I shrugged and bit my lip, "it looks good. It looks really good, I just don't know if this is a good idea. I mean he turned his application in this morning and you are both equally qualified. The only difference is that where your weakness lies in comics is where his strength show."

"I'm not bad at comics," Snake said shooting me a glare.

I shook my head, "no you're not. But he seems a bit more educated in indie comics. You know a lot more about mainstream unless you have a specific passion of the indie comic."

"Whatever," Snake said, "I gotta go. I'm doing a Magic tournament with Jund."

I nodded and leaned over the counter to give him a quick kiss. After he left I added the application to the file and went about the rest of my shift.

I was sitting at my kitchen table going over the applications. The owner, Trevor, had told me to not hire more than three people. He didn't want more than 6 employees. Only one of them could be part time.

I stared at Snake and Steven's application side by side. An idea formed in my head. Grabbing the applications and shoving them into my bag I texted Snake and told him to swing by the shop tomorrow for an interview. Afterwards I called Steven and told him the same thing.

A week later:

I smiled at the new employees. Snake stood beside Steven, his arm crossed and glaring at him out of the corner of his eye.

"Alright so welcome to the Milton's family. You were chosen cause not only do your talents and skills compliment the store but it also compliments your fellow co workers," i saw smiling at Snake, "today we will go through how to interact with costumers and use the database. We will also go through how the back room should be organized. Any questions?"

I looked at the three people standing in front of me. No on said anything.

"Alright," I said, motioning to Chelsea and Brad.

"Steven go with Brad, he'll show you the ropes in the back room. Chels, will you please show Snake the floor?"

Brad and Chelsea nodded and took their respective trainees.

"So that leaves you and I," I said, smiling at Frances. He was just barely 18 and extremely shy. But his knowledge on IT and tech skills would come in handy as we upgraded the store.

I motioned for him to follow me behind the counter.

"So you got the job," I said smiling at Snake as we took a seat in Taco Bell.

He nodded but didn't say anything, just unwrapped his taco. I raised my eyebrow at him.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing," he said, pouring hot sauce on the taco.

"You're mad cause Steven got it too," I said, putting down my nacho.

"I thought it was going to be one of us. Not both," he admitted.

"Like I said before, you know video games and he knows comics. You were both qualified. I thought you would be happy," I said.

He nodded, "i am but I just don't trust him still."

I sighed, "well trust me. Okay?"
