You failed.

Those two words. He feared them more than the punishments themselves. Those two words impacted how light or heavy it handed out the assaults on the pumpkin avatar.

It forced him to endure its beatings. It was not a friendly creature. Born from a place of greed and suffering, it carried the lessons bred into it in the world it created. The citizens who technically belonged to the entity.

He happened to be the unlucky host. Carrying out its tasks every time it asked. There wasn't an option to say no. The right answer was always yes, yes, yes.

He had nothing to offer except service.

I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

It was all he offered. What else could he do to make up for it? A loss the entity couldn't afford fell right out its hand. His fault the damn apples escaped their grasp.

It liked referring as two minds one body.

Right there. He was here.

A hand lifted his chin. Titling his head to the side, it forced his jaw to meet its own face. A shadow taking the shape of his own body since it hosted inside his electrical mind.

You had one job, Peter.

The entity released his chin. Walking backwards for effect, the creature disappeared in the darkness leaving the pumpkin to have a breath.

He finally breathed at last.

Thank God.

It created the pumpkin as an older man. Andy must've been around ten years younger than the pumpkin himself. The young one didn't seem like it with the slower speed.

Peter laughed.

I didn't even need it to catch up.

Why did he exist? His only purpose was to serve an entity which only existed to be evil and torment others just for the hell of it.

It insisted they were friends. He wouldn't be friends with it if they were the only self-aware ones in the entire game.

Well, you are.

The darkness of the slithered around his frame, restraining his arms and legs and blinded them together so he couldn't and wouldn't struggle.

What's it planning to do?

His other half pinned him to the floor. Stacks of hay picked through Peter's shirt in his physical skin. Poking holes and causing blood from the little mini stab wounds occurring by the second.

What are you going to do?

Shhhhhhhh.

It placed a finger on Peter's lips. Effectively shutting the pumpkin silent, it began to fall apart. Darkness receded through its body and split into tentacles which grasped Peter all over and pushed him into the floor of the barn.

No! No!

It wanted to possess him.

Own him. Claim him. Kill him.

Kill his spirit so it had total control over his mind, thoughts, desires, actions. It only hesitated to end Andy because his emotions forbade his body performing the abnormal action.

As long as Peter existed, the entity would suffer.

I wish the apple were here to distract him.

The darkness started dragging the pumpkin under some darkness. A pool appeared under Peter and the shadows gripped his wrists and legs and refused to let go of their master's host.

Stop! Please!

STOP!

Something hissed in his brain. Like a cat's or dragged out the course of his body changing into a husk of what he'd once inhabited with his own soul. Now it belonged to a spirit that wasn't him.

Heheheheeheheheheeheheheheheeh.

The pumpkin's body now stood on the barn tiled floor without his consent. He wasn't even in the state of mind to realise he wasn't himself. As well as his body transforming, Peter's mental state lost its emotional capacity and was replaced with a penitent for murder, killings, suffering.

Eternal torture.

With one glowing green eye and shadows caressing the end of his body affectionately like he was one of their own, Peter giggled with a child sounding tone.

"Better run, little Thomas. You'll soon belong to us."

Hiding in the apple was really a good ideas. Both hasn't had a clue it happened to be his personal vessel. They admitted it served well.

The ruse is over now.

They had no choice. They were the entity's.
