"Young man, what do you think you're doing?" The owner of the bookstore raised a brow, for an old man he is quite intimidating.
I couldn't find the words to answer him.
My friends dared me to steal something from here, anything. If I were a bit smarter I would've chosen to steal a bookmark.
But no, idiot me chose to steal a whole ass book.
"No answer?" He placed his hands on his hips, "okay, I'll just have to call the police then." He shrugged.
"No," I exclaimed. "I'll do anything, just please don't call the police." I begged. I can't have another altercation with them, it's been an eventful month. Plus coach won't let me play if he found out.
"Anything?"
I nodded vigorously.
"Okay," the old man smirked.
And that's how I, someone who definitely doesn't read, ended up working in a bookstore.
