"So", Boots started, waiting until Les sat down next to him in Science class, "what are you gonna do?""I talked to him", Les sighed, placing his backpack on the floor. "But I'm also gonna show him."
Boots nodded, turning on his computer. "Why?"
"Why what?"
"Why are you showin' him?"
Les sighed, shrugging his shoulders. He saw the same girl with brown hair walk through the door. They smiled at each other. "I'm not sure anymore. I just have this strong urge to prove something to someone."
Boots nodded, going back to his worksheet. He started thinking about Les. How can one person be so oblivious? It's like having a cardboard copy of Jack Kelly.
"Hey, Boots", Les says, interrupting the older's train of thought. "Who's that girl?"
Boots looked up, finding a girl he's known since second grade. "Oh. That's Sally. She's one of the smartest girls in Honors. Real popular, too."
"Oh", Les smiles, never taking his eyes off of her. "She's real pretty."
"I guess", Boots mutters, staring at his computer screen. Teenagers. "You should ask her out."
"Maybe", Les whispered, turning back to his worksheet. Boots looked at him and his goofy smile, internally rolling his eyes.
Oh, no.

"Heya, Boots", Snipeshooter greets, grabbing two fries and dipping them in ketchup. "Where's Les?"
"Probably with his new girlfriend, or whatever", Boots muttered, placing his tray down and looking at Books. "Did you still need help with the English homework?"
"Wait, wait, wait, wait", Snipeshooter says before Books can answer. "Girlfriend? How did shrimp man get a girlfriend before me?"
"Wait, what happened to Newby?" Boots' brows furrowed in confusion. "I thought you guys had a thing."
"He hasn't been answerin' my calls", Snipe responds, pouting a little. "It's like they's phone is off, or somethin'."
"Maybe he's grounded", Boots encourages. "You know his parents are strict."
"Yeah", Snipe says, doubtfully. "One can hope."
Books hadn't said anything. Les? Girlfriend? It was all too much. How could they be so calm about this? Les has a girlfriend? We should at least talk about this or something, I mean...LES HAS A GIRLFRIEND-
"Books?"
"Huh?"
Boots eyes showed worry. "You okay?"
"Uh, yeah", Books nodded vigorously. "I just, um, I remembered I, I have to get some- go do somethin' for class. See you, guys."
Boots and Snipe watched as the second youngest of their group got up and left abruptly.

"Spotty", Race says, nuzzling into his boyfriends chest. "What would ya say if I introduced you to my friends?"
Spot chuckles, placing a book mark in his book. Race frowned when he closed it. "What about keepin' me a secret?"
"I never wanted to keep you a secret", Race smiled, hugging Spot tightly. "I just didn't want the boys to hunt you down like wolves."
Spot laughed, kissing Race's temple. "When's the meetin'?"
Race hummed, thinking of the date. "At Snipe's birthday party; Sunday."
