This chapter might be a bit rough and inconsistent, since it was written after a week long abandonment. I was writing so many things at this point in time that I kind of left this hanging. It should be okay, though.——————————————————————
Les stared at the drop, his board hanging off slightly. He was waiting for someone to move.
He hadn't been here in months. He remembered coming here every Saturday, but at some point that got checkered out. He simply didn't have the time. He guessed his friends didn't either.
"Go, Les!" He looked over to see Snipeshooter, Boots, Books, and Newby cheering him on, kind of making him feel embarrassed. He gave them a thumbs up and dropped.
Skating felt so freeing. It was like rushing away from everything. He didn't have to think about anything, he just went. He flew.
He went on for a while, before he realized he'd probably been doing this for the better of ten minutes, and it's everyone's bowl. He skated off toward his friends, taking his helmet off.
"Dude, you skated for, like", Snipe looked down at his hands and counted on his fingers, "ten minutes!"
"It was eleven", Boots corrected, looking at Les confusedly. "Why'd you skate for so long?"
Les shrugged, deciding not to go into detail. He didn't feel like explaining why he hadn't seen the sun since Tuesday, so he thought he could get his vitamin D on a Friday afternoon.
"I can't believe the guys let us cut school", Newby changed the subject, seeing Les was uncomfortable. "I for sure thought Davey or Specs would make us go."
"They care less about school more than we do", Books chuckled, twirling his board. "Race and Elmer once made an entire power point about how school affects the minds of children negatively."
"It was surprisingly informative", Snipe commented, nodding as he stared at the ground. He looked at the sky then his phone, checking the time. "It's about one. Anyone hungry?"
Everyone raised their hands, excluding Les. "Anyone feel like not eating?"
"Les, you gotta eat", Books sighed, staring at him pointedly. "We've talked about this."
"I know", Les groaned, throwing his head back. "But chewing sounds like the most disturbing thing on the planet right now."
"Smoothies?" Everyone turned to look at Newby. "It's not exactly eating, but he'd get some kind of nutrients."
Books smiled and turned to his boyfriend. "Would you like a smoothie, bub?"
Les shrugged and kissed Books' cheek with a smile. "Thank you."
The older stood with a love struck smile, his eyes softening as he stared at his boyfriend. Newby chuckled as Snipe and Boots rolled their eyes.
"Simp!" Boots elbowed Snipeshooter, who recoiled in pain. "What?! I'm right!"
"You're annoyin'", Boots muttered, shaking his head. "He's not that far gone."
"Wait until they have their first kiss", Newby advised, wrapping his hand around his boyfriends. "You'll see how smitten he is."
Boots and Snipe looked at each other, glancing back at their friends. Les and Books were flirting- probably horribly- and had smiles across their bright red faces. Boots and Snipe smiled at each other.
"Hey, losers!" Les and Books looked over. "We're gonna leave now, so when you, you know, get done..."
"Alright, we're comin'", Books rolled his eyes, grabbing Les' hand. "Smoothies?"
