Davey had an interview today.
It was his second interview, and he was hoping he could get the job. He wasn't planning on becoming a photographer, but it was the second thing he was good at and enjoyed, the first being reading.
So as Davey put on the nicest casual clothes he owned, Les got ready for school.
He wasn't sure how he was going to face his friends, or Sally. The things that have been weighing on his mind were now going to be in his hands, especially when he looked at Books and Sally.
On one side, he could avoid either of them for most of the day, spending time with one person so it's not as overwhelming. On the other, they all share sixth period. Why? Because Sally Padalowski had trouble with the period she was in before.
So now Les sat between his girlfriend and his crush. Great.
He walked out of his room and sat on the couch, checking the time on his phone out of nerves. He watched as Davey walked out of his room, dressed nicely.
"You look nice", Les muttered, watching as his brother smiled.
"Thanks", Davey chuckles, adjusting the sleeve on his shirt. "So, my—hopefully—new job is near the school, so I can drop you off if you want."
Les wanted that more than anything. "Sure. At least I won't freeze my ass off."
"Les", Davey scolded, watching as Les got up from the couch. Les waved him off.
"Yeah, yeah."

Driving to school was a lot more fun than anticipated.
With temperatures dropping, it was likely to happen sooner than later, and Les thanked his seven pairs of shoes he didn't have to ride the bus. Even though he was very sociable, bus people can be very tiring.
Davey pulled into the carpool lane, glancing at Les. The youngest brother was in deep thought, but he looked visibly upset.
"Hey", Davey starts, driving behind someone, "it's gonna be okay."
"We have sixth period together", Les mumbled, looking out of the window. He took a deep breath and reminded himself of his mantra. Find the fire, but don't get burned. "If I'm in the nurses office, I'm probably dead."
Davey chuckled as Les unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car, leaving Davey to drive out of the school's parking lot.
As he was driving, he received a text from Jack.
Jackie💙: Have a good interview!🎉
Davey chuckled and typed a quick reply before putting his phone down. He'd told Jack about his second interview, and the other was absolutely ecstatic. He didn't quite know why, but it was a nice feeling having someone more excited for his events than he was.
He was still working on his crush on Jack. It's not that he wanted to let it go, but Jack seemed like he wasn't interested, like Davey was just his best friend. That, or he's a really good actor.
But now wasn't the time to worry about it. Davey finally got to the building, driving into the car and sitting there for a second.
Okay, he thought. This is gonna happen. You're gonna go in there, be social, make small talk, the whole nine. You got this.
He took one breath, smiling and getting out of the car. He walked towards the building with pep, ready for whatever was to come at him.
