"Mackenzie, your father is not paying $16,000 for you to still be in bed right now," my mother yells from the hallway. "He is dead...so technically you're paying all that money," I whisper back sarcastically, hopping out of bed and getting into the shower. I put on light make up, mostly just brow gel, mascara and my favourite gloss. It takes a good 15 minutes putting my unruly curls in a ponytail and another 10 trying to squeeze into jeans I should have gotten rid of a year ago. Once they are up my butt, I reach for my dark green Jordans, black corset top and a leather jacket. There is absolutely no reason why I chose black emo chick for the first day of school but here we are.

"Be home by 6!" My mom says as I run out the door. I don't bother answering because I know I'll be back sooner than that. It's the first day of school, I really don't think there is a reason why I'll want to stay at that place well after classes are done. Getting into my car and of course the first thing I do is choose my playlist for the 5 minute drive. To put myself in a good mood, I decide on Woman by Doja Cat, obviously dancing while driving.

Traffic. All the way, right after turning into the road that leads straight to school. Deciding to sit back and relax because there is nothing I can do to speed this day up, never mind the cars in front of me. While singing songs, I look up into my rear view mirror and see a black on black truck with tinted windows. Realising it might be a student because there is only one outline of a human being and wonder who might have gotten a new car this year. It wouldn't be surprising since this kids here could change cars as often as they wanted to. Not that the car I was driving wasn't nice but the one behind me was enough to make anyone stop and stare.

"Mack!" Alliyah screams as she runs up to me. We've have been friends for 2 years now and she is definitely one of my favourite people. Speaking of people, a ton of them don't like us much for various reasons. One, being we say exactly what we think and hardly filter it, Alliyah is pretty, so a lot of girls with boyfriends would much rather she didn't even exist and the last reason is because some people felt like we were 'taking their best friends away from them' but that's a story for another day.
"Hello friend" I said, hugging her. The typical hug between Alliyah and I would last 5 to 10 seconds but because we haven't seen each other for a while, 60 seconds is pretty accurate. Not bothering to ask her where our 3 other friends are because they are always late. "I'm hungry," I said while pulling out a pack of Sour Patch Kids. Offering some to Alliyah, while we walked to our usual area waiting for the girls.

First to show up is Noel. I've only known her for a year and to say I did not like this girl, would be an understatement. She has a type one personality that did not fit well with mine. We often had a passive aggressive approach towards each other for a very long time until one day, we danced together at a school concert and hugged it out. We've been friends ever since. Noel is also pretty and often caught the attention of guys, it also helped that she was friendly and made friends quickly.

Daphne and Tiffany are neighbours, so they showed up at the same time. I've known Daphne longer than I've known anyone else. We've been friends as long as I can remember and our moms are close as well. She is the level headed and emotional one, only makes friends and doesn't have trouble with people. She's the sunflower of the group. And lastly we have Tiffany. I met Tiffany randomly, while complaining about having to wait for something. I've known her for 3 years and she's the 'blonde' one who would say things that made us stop, stare and wonder what the hell was going on in her head.

Our friendship is not the different from the cliche but the one thing we had in common was that we played netball. We've played the sport for a very long time. What made it better is that netball was not our lives, we spoke about anything and everything, while supporting each other through it all.

"How many new kids do think we'll have this year?" Daphne asked and we all stopped to think about it. Each year we expected less than 10 of them.
"You mean besides the freshmen?" Tiffany decided that was a good question and you could see we all suppressed a 'duhhh' from coming out of our mouths.
"I don't think we'll even have any. Do people even transfer in their senior year?" Noel asked and we all shrugged. I pull out my phone to Google if we are allowed to do that and find out that it's possible. As I look up, there a tall guy  and a much shorter girl, both of whom look lost a little out of place.
"I found them" I said while pointing at them as they stood at the parking lot. Presumably trying to figure out where the office was. The girls turn towards them and all agree that there's no way they were freshmen. We continue our walk to class and talk about anything that popped into our heads.

Mine are: 1. Spelivia  (my heart belongs to them) 2. Darvey (even though they are not around anymore) 3. Olicity (also not around anymore but was probably my first fandom) 4. Densy 5. Most of the Grey's Anatomy couples.
