Mackenzie | pov

"Okay Mackenzie, do you know why you are here today?" The brunette this school hired to 'control the chaos' asks me.

Mrs. Jackie is the school's counsellor and she knows my name because I've been here about two times already. One was for arguing with a teacher over dress code violation (I measured my skirt it was the exact length allowed) and the second time was for correcting Amanda's attitude.

I never get sent to the principle's office because as soon as the crowd clears and it's only very few people left, I cry. And it's not a few drops here and there. It's not the loud and dramatic kind either. If you are close enough you can hear me, you can even see the tears following each other and my shoulders move up and down. Sometimes, I look down and refuse to speak. The principle is a fairly old man, who doesn't exactly know how to deal with crying girls and so, he quickly sent me to the counsellors office.

I shake my head but I have a feeling about it. "This isn't how we usual meet Mrs. Jackie. You took me out of class," I was in my History class when she walked in and whispered to the teacher that I should follow her. And if I know this school as well as I think I do, the senior class already knows I'm here and the bell for next period has not rung yet.

Mrs. Jackie leans back in her seat and looks at me like she can read my mind. "It's only Tuesday Mackenzie, what happened with Lucy Montgomery today?"

"Why?" I know why but I want to know how much she knows. I cross my legs and also relax on the chair in front of her desk.

She shakes her head and no longer has a pleasant look on her face. "You know how this works. You don't answer my questions with a question," she means it.

I'm cornered, I have to tell her what happened.

Mackenzie's flash back

After my date with Wayne, we spent a lot of our time texting or calling each other. I even got to meet his cousin via Facetime.

We saw each other for the first time yesterday after officially committing to this relationship. Wayne has been extra cute and gentle towards me, expect when we are alone, we banter and roast each other.

In the morning, he got to school, walked out his car and walked straight to me, grabbed me and we kissed in front of a lot people. When he pulled away, I could hear the whispers and I'm almost certain someone took a picture of us. That didn't seem to bother Wayne because even when the whole group got to school, he held my hand. I mean he even walked me to all of my classes. The entire day went well.

Today, Wanye was still being extra attentive and affectionate towards me, all morning. People were still talking but no one came to say anything to either of us yet until Lucy decided otherwise.

Wayne and I were walking down the halls towards the lunch tables from the class we had together. My friends decided not to wait for us at the bottom of the stairs.

He was going on about a sneaker he saw online, when I saw a bouncing girl coming towards us. "Wayne, how are you?" Lucy went to hug Wayne and he didn't let go of my hand. He hugged her back tapping her shoulder blades. I was super attentive to his hand placement, it would tell me everything I needed to know.

He pulls back, "I'm good, how are you?" Giving her a small smile.

Will this girl acknowledge me or will she pretend I'm not here?
