Always heard things about how difficult a divorce can be on the family, more especially the children AKA the 'collateral damage' but honestly I do not care. My father enjoyed worked more than talking to his wife. And my mother enjoyed Mr. Thompson's company, so much so that she introduced my father to her new boyfriend and hoped for a reaction but got nothing.

Silver lining? My mother was never the housewife type, so handing my father divorce papers very much resembled a typical day in the office for her. I know this because I was there. "Put it on the table, I'll look at it when I can," my father said without looking at the brown envelope in my mother's hand. Looking up to see her face and a glint of sadness flashed but quickly went away as she said, "No Theo, I suggest you look at it now." She kept her voice stern and handed it to him. My mother's stiletto shoes tapped on the wooden floor, a clear sign of her impatience, while she watched him open it. Without taking it out completely, he knew exactly what it was, "Wayne, go. You shouldn't be -"  my father said but was interrupted by his soon to be ex-wife. "He is not going anywhere. I want him to know what happens when he loses focus on what matters most, he'll lose it. You prioritised building an empire, that you forgot who you are building it for. Let me guess, for how long have you been sitting here waiting for your father to acknowledge you?" I chose to keep quiet because I knew she knew it had been a while. It was 5 minutes away from an hour. She walked out the door after telling me that there was an option to go with her or stay with him.

I thought Mr. Thompson was a decent man but decided I wouldn't let him carry the weight of a kid that wasn't his. So I became Theo's problem but still have an awesome relationship with my mother.

After a big donation to the school board from Theo, my transfer to Athena High School was very easy. Also considering that I'm a pretty dope baller and my grades were almost as good as that. Getting out of the car and walk towards a girl standing alone, who looked as lost as I was about to be. "Hey, do you know where the office is?" I spoke in the most gentle voice possible, to not scare her. "Uhhmmm... no. I'm new here and I'm not sure who to ask," she looked up at me for a brief moment and then quickly looked down. She was a nice looking girl but was the furthest from my type. Being 6ft2 and I doubt she went anywhere over 5ft2 and looked like she lacked all the confidence. A girl who can speak up and not let me push her around, now that's hella sexy.

Asking her to walk with me, we end up inside the building. Instantly regretting it, the hallway was full of loud ass kids, most of which are snobby spoilt rich kids. To our luck, I look up and see a sign with directions that told us which way to go. "Hoskins, Cooper" the receptionist called out over the voices of waiting parents and children. My surname is Hoskins, so I can only assume that the girl next to me is Cooper.  As we walk forward, a really nerdy girl walks towards us and introduces herself, "Hello, my name is Naomi and I am going to be showing you to around today. Here are your schedules and the room numbers. Since you've made it this far through your schooling careers, I'm assuming that you have a general idea of..." this girl goes on and on while walking us through the now empty hallway because class has already started. Glancing at the sheet, I see the that we should be approaching my class but Naomi doesn't seem to be paying attention to that. It looks like she was going on with the tour, so I quickly snuck into the door, where my class is, without her noticing me.

As soon as the door opens, I'm relieved. People are standing and moving around, which means I can get into this class and find a seat without the teacher doing the awkward cliche introdcution that happens every time there's a new student in the class. I sit down and the rest of the class settles down as the English AP teacher walks in. To my luck the class comes to an end and I survive without sticking out. But my success was short lived when the realisation that I don't know where the next class is, comes.

Deciding that my pride mattered more than looking like a fool, I walked around campus, lost and at this point, most certainly late. Look straight ahead and see a girl running towards me, anyone can tell that she's a little late too. I have to say something, otherwise detention for walking around instead of being in class on the first day of school was very likely. Opening my mouth to speak, the girl continues passed me, "I strongly suggest that you saying whatever you want to say very quickly, I'm late," she says put of breathe. It's odd, she has an banging body, slightly athletic but with the way she's huffing, she's nowhere near being fit. "I'm new and a little lost, I wa-" she turned her head mid fast walk, saw the paper and grabbed it out of my hand. "Lucky for you. You're coming with me," the girl is still running.

As she goes around the corner, she stops and sees a stairs that I'm assuming leads to the glass. "You'd think a school this expensive, would have an elevator," she says to me and I can't help but laugh. She turns around to look at me and suddenly, I can't breathe.

Question: Would you rather read minds or be invisible?

For me, I want to choose both but invisibility whenever I wanted to seems cool.
