"Do you think next Saturday's game against Richmond High, will have as much drama as the last time?" Noel asks us.

The final whistle for the end of practice was blown about 5 minutes ago and we're walking towards the showers to change.

Daphne laughs, "isn't that the school that caused a fight so big the police came to help security?"

"All I remember is a fight the football players got into first , the coaches already hated each other and the people from each school on the bleachers were dissing each other," I start, as far as I know.

Tiffany who is walking ahead of us stops and turns, "Micheal had a busted lip and Shawn was limping for days. Half the team was purple and blue," she laughs.

After showering, we walk towards the football field but stop when we see the boys walking towards us, except Wayne. Tiffany, Daphne and Noel go to their boyfriends. Alliyah, Ivan and I move towards the parking lot.

"Hey Mack, look behind you," Ivan says pointing his finger backwards, not turning.

When Alliyah and I turn around and I see something I was not expecting to see today. Wayne and Steven are standing a distance away from us and talking about something. Could he be telling Steven about us right now?

My flight instinct kicks in and I take a step back but stop when I feel a hand hold mine. "Don't. It's okay," Ivan's voice makes me turn towards him but when I look down I see that it's Alliyah holding me.

I turn to her and see a mixture of concern and confusion. "Is he doing what I think he's doing?" She looks looking at Ivan. We both nod. "How serious are they?" She asks.

Turning to look straight forward, I'm watching the conversation happen. It looks like Wayne is doing all the talking and Steven is just looking at him.

"Had their first kiss and first fight already," Ivan tells Alliyah. I can feel her looking at me for confirmation and I just nod my head again. The scene happening in front of my eyes is too nerve wrecking, I can't do anything else.

Alliyah tugs on my hand a little to gain my attention. "Maybe we should to the parking lot and wait for him there," we agree with her and start walking.

"So you and Wayne are thing now?" Alliyah asks me.

I don't know how to answer that question, so I tell her what I know "he likes me, I like him. There's no title yet. I don't want to be his girlfriend if I have to lie about it," I don't want a fling or a secret relationship.  The lines are to blurry and someone will get hurt because of things like that.

I look at our group standing together in front of Shawn's car, waving us over.  "Mack, Micheal got kicked out for spelling Mississippi with c instead of s. That lady is over him for real now," Luther laughs really loud, for someone who hardly speaks. It's a welcome distraction.

"Yo, Steven can we talk man."

Practise ended a few minutes ago and everyone is going home. I need to do this today, so that Mackenzie can be comfortable and says yes when I ask her to be my girl.

He stops, "sup man, we haven't talked in a while," Steven is right. Once I found and gelled well with the Squad, he and I barely spoke, unless it was on the field or in passing. Luckily, he waves off his friends and the 2 of us walk far behind everyone else.
