Time Will Tell

It has been over a month now. And the girls are at Mackenzie's house getting ready for her birthday. They had a girl's night, last night and tonight they are going to meet the boys at the theme park.

"Why don't you ever want a party?" Daphne asked. "You're like the only one in the group who never wants one."

"That's exactly why. We are a big group and that means a lot of birthday parties. So I figured we do something different on mine," Mackenzie said, straightening her hair.

Alliyah is on the other side of Mackenzie's room, sitting on the floor and putting make up on. "It helps that her mom has connections, we'll be the only ones there."

Tiffany has been going through Mackenzie's closet for a while now, looking for something to wear after changing her mind about an outfit she brought with her. "I'm just going to wear my jeans and borrow your oversized shirt," and by borrow, she means take.

Noel has a towel wrapped around her body after coming out the shower, "hey, why aren't the boys coming to pick us up here? It's unusual for us to meet them anywhere," she asks as she applies lotion on her body.

This is something Mackenzie had carefully planned. "I'm not ready for my mom to meet Wayne," she shrugs like it's normal so that her friends take it as that. When Wayne meets her mother, everything will be real. It would be a big deal and it would force her to think about her feelings, maybe even have to say them out loud.

But they see right through it, "it's been over a month now, almost 2. Your mom has meet every boy in the Squad. Why not Wayne?" Alliyah asks.

Mackenzie's heart starts beating fast, she's stays quiet and focuses on her hair. Hoping they'll let it go.

"She's in love with him," Daphne says and it's more of a statement than a question.

Everyone immediately stops what they are doing and look at Mackenzie to see if she'll deny it. She doesn't. She puts the flat iron down, looks at herself in the mirror and a tear escapes.

The girls run to her and hug her, "awww" "Don't cry Mack," "shhhh" "it's going to be okay," they say to her.

"No it's not, I'm going to get my heart broken," Mackenzie finally says. It's her biggest fear and she doesn't know what to do. The last month has been amazing and her feelings grew so much. At first she didn't know that she was in love until very recently.

They break up the hug and Daphne takes over the iron and straightens the rest of Mackenzie's hair, while she gets started on her make up. "But that shouldn't stop you from enjoying your relationship."

Everyone goes back to finish what they were doing, "when did you realise that you are in love?" Alliyah asks, putting on the final touches to her make up.

"On Wednesday. He gave me the watch with my name on it. Wayne said even though it had butterflies and tiny diamonds on it, he wore it the entire day to make sure it would smell like him," the bracelet has a leather band that matches the bracelet she took from him before they started dating. That she still wears today.

"It makes it's cuter that he knows you can't tell time to save your life," Tiffany said the group laughed and it relieves Mackenzie's anxiety.

Noel and Alliyah start to getting dressed. "We don't know Wayne well but the signs are there. I bet you he feels the same way," Noel says.

The girls finish getting ready and take Tiffany's truck to the theme park, since it is big enough for all of them to fit comfortably.

"Man if she gets there before us, I'm going to kick your ass," Wayne yells at Kyle, who flew in for Mackenzie's birthday, after she called him last weekend and basically demanded that he comes.

Kyle was taking his time grabbing a jacket. "She got you so whipped, you forgot I'll kill you before you get the chance to kick my ass," Kyle had watched Wayne's behaviour when it comes to Mackenzie and can tell that his cousin is all in.  "So you telling her tonight?" He asks as soon as they get into the car and Wayne starts moving it towards the location.

Wayne quickly glances at Kyle, before looking at the road, "Tell her what?" He is confused.

Kyle almost laughs, "That you love her."

Wayne chokes on his spit, "I'm not. I mean I don't. What are you talking about?" He tries to deny it. Wayne has known for a about 2 weeks that he was in love with Mackenzie but has not said anything to anyone.

Kyle laughs out loud this time, "you can't fool me. I've known you all your life. You're in love with her and it's nothing like what you thought you had with Natalie," he cringed waiting for his head to bitten off because he knows he crossed a line by saying Wayne's first love's name.

Wayne's knuckles turn white from the hard grip he has in the steering wheel.  " You know better than to say that name. Yes, I'm in love with Mackenzie but it's different, it doesn't feel like what I had for Natalie," thinking back to his past with his ex who told him that she was pretending to be in love with on the day of his birthday.

"Isn't that a good thing? Kyle asks. To him, anyone would be a better replacement for his cousin after what Natalie did to him. "Mackenzie is a great girl."

Wayne thinks for a little, "I don't know man, I wanna give it time." He was nervous to tell her how he feels, what if she doesn't feel the same way he does.

Kyle understands that his cousin is talking out of fear.  "Piece of advice, you should tell her. She's not Natalie," he said and left the topic alone.  He figured he should pull Mackenzie to the side today and try to figure out where her head is at, maybe even observe them as a couple. "I brought the flowers. She said she likes sun flowers. But what's in the box?"

"She has me hooked on this show All American, in one of the episodes they go rollerblading. So I got her and myself a pair," Wayne says with a small smile. They would sit on the phone and watch the show together, starting from the very first episode of the first season.

Wayne is now a full Spelivia Stan and enjoys the show.
