I will be the first to admit. She is not the most beautiful girl I've seen, having been places and seen faces. It was her eyes, that's what took my breathe away. Her big brown eyes looked up at me and I could only imagine what my soul looked like to her. And then it was her laugh, I've heard people laugh before but never this hard at themselves. Holding out my hand to help her up, there was some hesitation but she took it regardless. Of course, I'm just a stranger.

"Wanye, come meet the team man,"  Steven said dragging me through the courtyard, after my brief conversation with Brown Eyes. "We are about to ball out this season, I'm pumped dude," He says again, almost too very loud for my liking.

I met Steven 5 weeks ago, after moving to this new neighbourhood. I instantly knew he played football, just by the way he walked. Steven is a tall dude but I was still a few inches taller. He came up to me in the street after my morning run and introduced himself, respecting how ballsy he was to do that. We hung out almost everyday and I could call him a friend but knowing me, I still kept a few cards to my chest. Imagine trusting someone you met a minute ago.

"Sup, I'm Wayne," I said, introducing myself to the 6 guys standing in a circle. After getting a few nods and greeting back, I learned their names and joined their conversation about college recruits.

Brown Eyes walks towards her car, across the courtyard to the parking lot, but her eyes were on me or maybe the group. She quickly looked away and I watched the way she walked. This girl definitely has my attention now.

My thoughts and staring are interrupted by a guy whose name is remember to be Ivan. "Yo, what's your position on the field?" I told him I am a wide receiver but have pretty much master 3 other positions. " The tryouts are going to be interesting. Kyle is going to hate you, I can already tell." Ivan says and he seems impressed by the idea, as a matter of a fact, all the guys here are happy with that. "I'm not getting on a team to cause beef. Coaches makes choices, whoever plays better bring it," I look at their faces and it's like they are seeing a ghost.

After a few more minutes of getting to know the guys, It's clear that they've known each other for a very long time and that loyalty runs deep. Saying good bye and turning to walk away, Ivan stops me and ask for a ride home, saying that he is going the same way I am. "I totalled my car last week, so my mom is teaching me lesson about responsibility. I just gotta get home and smile as hard as I can and hope I get another one. You gotta dope car by the way," Ivan says and I can tell me talks a lot. I say thank you and we talk about small things until we reach his house, we exchange numbers and I get myself home, luckily Ivan's place is only 2 blocks from mine.

It's the next morning and I'm on my typical morning run. But what woke me up was Brown Eyes, I keep seeing them every time I close my eyes and it's driving me insane. Which is what made me decide to run and hopefully sweat her out of my system. I still don't even know her name and it's frustrating me. She is so interesting to me but I need to keep my heart guarded, I can't be going through that dumb ass pain again.

Brown Eyes is only in 1 of my classes and I'm not ready to talk to her. I've met a few girls already and none of them are interesting me, expect for her.

There's Monica, she is flirtatious but there's some thing about her that rubs me the wrong way. The only other girl I've had an actually conversation with so far was Layla. I can tell her parents are probably the richest in this school but she doesn't show it very often. She is beautiful curvaceous girl but she might be a bit of an air head. Fun to have conversations with but nothing too deep.

I am completely balling out at tryouts, maybe even too much. The guys look impressed and so does the coach. But this Kyle guy seems pissed and I don't blame him. Just glad he is staying out of my way. After hearing I've secured my spot on the team and will not be riding the bench in the first game of the season, I'm pumped.
