Someone Better - Damian Priest

I had no idea how long I'd been pacing around this room but I was pretty sure I'd worn a hole through the flooring. I had just received the news that my ex Randy had been medically cleared and would be returning tonight.

The night he got injured we had had a row and split up, it was what we did we'd fight, split up, get back together, repeat. Only this time was the first time we'd stayed apart for any length of time and the thing was I hadn't missed him. I had come to realise that anything I had felt for him was long gone and not being together was the right thing for us.

During the time he'd been way I had spent alot of time with my friends Damian and Riddle. I was closest to Damian, he was the sweetest guy I knew, he had let me cry on his shoulder everytime Randy and I split up and had told me how stupid I was each time I took him back, and somewhere along the way something had developed between us although neither of us has made a move.

I was just adjusting my ring gear when I hear a soft knock followed by door opening slightly.

"Y/n are you decent?" Riddle calls out and I smile

"Hey Matt yeah I'm decent" I say and he walks in and greets me with a hug "I just heard how are you doing?" He asks

"Ok I guess" I sigh "but I know that will all change when I see him"

"You don't need him y/n" he says "you've been doing great without him, you've been happier and Damian and I have been loving seeing you smile more, please don't take him back"

"Where is Damian?" I ask looking around him

"Oh he's warming up for his match" he says "said he'd catch you afterwards"

"Oh well alright" I say a little disappointed that he hadn't come to check on me "I better get to my match"

After the match

Heading back to my locker room I was a little upset, I had lost my match and there had been no sign of Damian. I had hoped I would have seen him by now becuase more that anything I needed one of his hugs.

I push open the door only to find Damian waiting for me, he smiles as he stands up and closes the gap between us wrapping me up in one of his amazing hugs.

"Sorry I didn't come to see you before, they switched my match around" he says "how are you holding up"

"It's alright and I'm better now you're here" I say "I've been needing this hug"

"Matt's right you know you don't need him" he says "you've been so happy lately, you and I have been getting closer, in fact y/n there is something I want to ask you"

"You can ask me anything, you know that" I smile

"I want to ask you not to take him back this time and to give me a chance" he says "I don't know what this is between us but I do know that I want the chance to find out, I like you alot and I really think I could make you happy"

Before I can answer there is a soft knock on the door and Randy walks in the room holding a bunch of roses.

"Hey y/n it's good to see you, I got you these" he says handing me the flowers "I was hoping maybe we could talk, work things out"

"I'm sorry but I don't want to work things out" I say "I think this way is better for us, we don't work together"

"Come on we've had some good times right?" He asks "and you know I love you"

"I do but I don't feel the same not anymore" I say looking at Damian and then back at him "I'm sorry Randy but we are done for good this time"

"Please y/n just one last chance I swear I'll be better this time" he says taking a step towards me but as he does Damian wraps his arms around me from behind and pulls my back flush with his chest, Randy watches as I place my arms over the top of Damians and then looks between us.

"The truth is Randy while you been gone, I've found some one else" I smile "some one better, who makes me happy and I want to be with him"

"I understand, if he makes you happy I won't get in the way" he says looking at Damian "do something for me, take good care of her, she's special, she deserves the world, don't fuck it up like I did"

"I won't you have my word I'll take good care of her" Damian says "I know how amazing she is and I count myself lucky she gave me a chance"

Randy nods, gives me a small smile and leaves, I find myself breathing a sigh of relief as Damian turns me to face him.

"So does this mean what I think it means?" He smiles "are you giving me a chance?"

"Yes I am" I smile "I like you alot too and I've been waiting for you to make a move, so are you just going to smile at me or are you finally going to kiss me?" I smirk

Damian closes the gap between us once more and leans down kissing me softly while his hands move up the sides of my body before his arms finally wrap around me. I kiss him back taking his face in my hands, and in this moment I knew I'd made the right choice, that he was what I needed, he was some one better.
