If you had told me five years ago that I would be laid out on a sun lounger on the deck of a luxury cruise ship I would have laughed in your face. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would find myself here.

Of course I knew Joe would be successful, that he would be a star but I had never expected him to completely outshine all of his colleagues and become the face of the company.

I had been there from the start with Joe, he was the love of my life and my best friend. I had supported him, comforted him, consoled him, celebrated with him. I had been whatever he needed me to be and I was only too happy to stand back and watch him shine.

In the lead up to our five year anniversary he had decided he wanted to take me away on this cruise and I was excited to get some time alone with him. Just lately he had started to talk about the future and we had discussed having a family, so naturally I assumed that this vacation was our last one alone before we grew our family.

Each day we had split our time between exploring where the ship had docked and making the most of what the ship had to offer. Every evening we would have dinner together and get dressed up and I had assumed that tonight would be no different until I woke up from my Joe induced nap to find him gone.

As I glance around the room my eyes fall on a full length deep red gown handing up in the corner of our cabin. I didn't recognise it and had no idea where it had come from.
Climbing out of the bed I walk over and run my fingers over the silky fabric spotting a note pinned to the hanger.

Put this on and meet me at the stern of the ship

Smiling I get myself ready, putting on my sexiest lace under wear, stockings and his favourite perfume before finally taking the gown off the hanger and sliding it up my body. It fit perfectly and clung in all the right places.

As I make my way to the stern of the ship I hear soft music floating through the air, the sky is scattered with stars and in the distance is a beautiful sunrise. That's when I see him, my Joe, standing at the very end of the ship, under and archway of twinkling lights and delicate flowers, beside him the source of he music, she ship band playing soft quiet music.

"What is all this?" I smile as he I reach him and he takes me hands

"You look beautiful doodlebug" he smiles "forget being the tribal chief I feel like the king of the world right now"

"Well you know flattery gets you everywhere superman" I smile "what did I do to deserve all this?"

"I was watching you sleep and I got to thinking about everything I've achieved and everything I have and I realised that no matter how much it all meant to me I would choose a life with you over all of it" he says "I choose you yesterday, I choose you today, I choose you tomorrow, I will always choose you because I am so in love with you. You are my once in a lifetime, my puzzle piece, my best friend, the love of my life and my forever. Neither of us are perfect but we are perfect for each other, we are a team. So with that in mind I'd like to ask you something" he says lowering himself to one knee and taking a small box out of his pocket as tears of joy roll down my face.

"Y/n......doodlebug......would you do me the honour of allowing me to love you for the rest of your life? Will you marry me?" He asks

"Yes" I cry falling to my knees in front of him and taking his face in my hands "I would love nothing more than to marry you superman.....I love you"

"I love you doodlebug" he says wrapping his arms around me after sliding a beautiful ring onto my finger "I'm just sorry it took me so long to get my ass in gear and ask you, I should have asked you a long time ago"

"This was more than worth waiting for" I smile

"Well I promise you won't have to wait long for a wedding" he says  as we both stand andhe takes me back in his arms "I don't want to wait to call you my wife, I also don't want to wait to start a family with you either"

"After the way you've been the last few days don't be surprised if we go home with a little something extra" I say and he chuckles
