Chapter 34: No other place like home.

❄️

Watching the afternoon sun shining proudly up in the sky, upon the Brooklyn City. Orange, yellow and blue was coloring the sky making the view look enchanting and the birds flying north was just mesmerizing and gentle breeze playing with their hairs and clothes relaxed their minds.

But her mind was slightly troubled. She was just looking at the busy streets ahead blankly, like she was thinking something deeply. She hugged the blanket close to her suddenly finding the breeze cold and feeling goosebumps on her arms.

Jack pulled her closer into his chest, sitting between his legs on the cocoon handstoel at their apartment building's rooftop, she curled her toes, resting her head against his shoulder. She let out another deep sigh. Jack planted butterfly kisses in the crook of her neck.

"This is the 19th time you're sighing. What are you thinking?" Jack finally asked, rubbing her arms up and down.

"I was thinking..." She started but then stopped, shaking her head, "nothing," she forcibly smiled patting on his hand knowing that he can't see her face, she sighed.

"Twenty! Now you have to tell me. Just tell me and we'll solve the problem. Come on, spill it." Jack flipped her around and fixed the blanket around her shoulders and bare arms kissing her on the nose.

"It's nothing important..." She waved her hand like it was nothing and rested her cheek on his chest where his heart was beating.

"Very few things trouble you so of course it has to be important. Go ahead and tell me already, Elsa." Jack pried making her look into his cyan blue eyes, she hesitated looking down and then again in his eyes.

"I was thinking that... That now things have changed... Where do... Uh where do we stand? I mean... What are we, Jack?" Elsa asked, it was her first time she was entering into something like this, so of course she wanted safety and reassurance.

He could understand her insecurities, her vulnerability and her innocence. He tucked her hair behind her ears and kissed her forehead.

"We can be whatever you want us to be." She put her cheek once again on his chest and he felt her grin making him smile as well when she wrapped her arms around his waist.

"Okay! I want us to be husband and wife so let's get married! What do you think?" She asked excitedly make him widen his eyes in shock. This was Elsa Winters, a lot was expected from her, even the unexpected. But never this.

"Wha... What? You must be kidding me, you have to be kidding me. I mean... it's not like I don't want to... I mean we just started dating so that's just absurd." Elsa looked up at him with her raised eyebrows.

"Okay, I don't understand. You just said, you want to marry me but you don't want to because 'that's just absurd'?" Elsa air quoted the words "that's just absurd" Jack looked at her with his wide panicked eyes. Elsa stood up from his lap, making him stand on his feet as well.

"No! Of course that's not absurd. I want to marry you but not so soon, I want to give us some time." Jack still didn't know how they got into this argument on the first day of them dating each other.

"If that's not absurd and you know you want to marry me then why the wait? Why the wait when you know what you want? Now I think that's absurd." Elsa put her hands on her hips, looking up at him.

Jack rubbed his hands on his face, not knowing how she kept on turning his words against him.

"Elsa, listen to me. Rushing things is stupid. I mean you're my girlfriend now and..." Elsa bit her lip looking away from his face.
