Chapter 15

Chapter 15: Love Is A Strong Word.

She was looking outside, at the trees that were fading away in the distance. Warm wind was blowing her hair that was entering through the open window of the car, there was a comfortable silence in the car, when Eugene decided to break it.

"Dr Tadashi, told me they have to admit you in the hospital for a while." Eugene was always to the point person and he was always going to be one, Elsa looked at him tucking her hair behind her ear. He was busy looking at the road and driving, with his hands on the steering wheel.

"I can't, I have to prepare for exams." She answered looking back at the open window, Eugene sighed softly. He always knew it was going to be hard, she was so head strong.

"They are not important, you can repeat the semester." Eugene spoke like it was nothing, Elsa turned her neck to him in the speed of light and she was shocked that her neck didn't break.

"What? I've prepared for my exams and you're saying repeat the semester? Eugene, I don't want to argue with you again so please drop this topic." She turned her head to look outside the window again with a frown on her face. Eugene sighed, he knew that this argument will get nowhere. The whole trip to a familiar building was replaced in an uncomfortable silence, they were also familiar with this uncomfortable silence because they weren't having this conversation for the first time.

The car came to a halt, Elsa quickly unbuckled her seatbelt and left the car without a word. Eugene rolled his eyes at her Melodrama and slid the window down.

"You forgot your purse, idiot!" Eugene called out, Elsa stopped on her way entering the building and turned around with an annoyed look as she walked back towards the car and snatched her purse from him.

"Shut up, Idiot!" She pulled a strand of his brunette hair, he winced and pulled her arm, bending her down to his window and wrapped his arms around her.

"I was telling you to repeat the semester, because I'm worried about you. Dr Tadashi told me that it is urgent to admit you in the hospital and if you really felt bad about what I said then I am sorry." Eugene spoke brushing her hair away from her forehead and kissed it, before he released her from his arms, he waited for Elsa to say something but she stayed quiet. He started the car and drove off.

Elsa stood there staring at his car as it slowly disappeared in the distance, she walked inside the building and entered the elevator pressing the 18th floor button.

How does she explain to him that the time she has left, she doesn't want to spend it, lying in a hospital bed, hooked with tubes and machines. Death is a challenge, it tells us not to waste time. And she doesn't want to waste time, everyone has to die one day. So what, if she's going to die a little sooner. She still has the right to live every moment like it's the last and enjoy everything and continue to smile.

The elevator doors opened with a ding. The corners of her lips twitched up into a smile as she remembered Jack was going to come early today, because he wanted to take her somewhere. This thought erupted butterflies in her stomach and she could feel that ticklish feeling spreading through her whole body and it was making her excited. She ran to the entrance of their apartment and unlocked the door using the spare key.

Just as she entered the apartment, Facebook greeted her wagging his tail and barking, Elsa bent down over her knee and brushed her fingers in his orange fur, with a smile on her face.

"I missed you too, boy!" Elsa giggled as he licked her hands, she stood up from the cold marble floor and walked in her room with Facebook trailing behind her. The whole apartment was awfully quiet like always. But now she didn't mind anything, she was getting used to living his way, but not too much. If she was living his way didn't mean that she would stop living her way.
