Chapter 13: Miraculous.
❄
She sat up in her bed alone, with no one in sight. She rubbed her heavy eyes as she yawned and stood up from her bed putting on her bunny slippers and stretched. What happened last night? Her consciousness awakened her.
She scratched her head trying to think.
Lights out...nyctophobia...Mommy...Father...Eugene...Chris Jonas...
Her eyes widened as a gasp escaped her lips, she brushed her hand in her hair and looked at her bedroom's door. What have I done? Why did I tell him everything? How am I going to face him now? Will he look at me the same way? Because I don't want to see pity in his eyes for me. She slowly opened the door and peeked with her head out. She grabbed her phone, turning it on and checked the time.
Everything was clear, maybe he was already gone to the hospital. She came out of her room and slowly walked to the kitchen counter. She placed her phone on the counter and poured herself a glass of water, she brought the glass to her lips as she let the cold liquid go down her throat.
"Morning," She startled and the whole glass of water fell on her face along with her baby pink nighty dress that reached her mid thighs. Hearing his deep voice made an army of hairs to stand on her neck and down her back.
She choked on the water in her mouth and started coughing. Her face and eyes grew red as she coughed, she looked at him still coughing.
"Mo-rnin-..ing.." She coughed out.
"Yo..." He was cut off with her phone ringing on the counter, she quickly answered and went in her room. She wanted to avoid him at any cost, she placed her phone on her ear.
"Hey Els!" It was Eugene on the other line.
"Hey Eug, how are you?" She asked as she laid down on her bed.
"Good, how are you? Lights were out last night...were you okay?" He asked what he called for.
"Yeah, my roommate helped me a lot last night, I'm okay." Elsa replied as a smile made it's way to her lips when she remembered the way he tried to comfort her and hugged her tight.
"Your roommate's a doctor right?"
"Yeah, why'd you ask?"
"You never told me about this roommate of yours, you always avoid talking about your roommate..." She so knew it! That this day would come when Eugene won't leave it alone.
"Today is weekend and you're going to pick me at 9 and we can talk. Yeah?" She suggested, he went quiet for awhile and sighed.
"Sure, don't try to hide anything from me, okay?"
"I know Eugene, Bye! Love ya!" She hung up, not even giving him the chance to say something more. She placed her mobile on her chest and closed her eyes.
What was she going to tell Eugene? If he finds out why she's here, he will force her to come back or maybe something worse. He doesn't even know that she's living with a guy. She bit her lip, she can't lie to Eugene anymore, he has the right to know.
She heard the entrance door opening and closing. He left. Elsa closed her eyes for a few moments and then opened them, she stood up and walked to the bathroom and took a quick warm shower. She came out with a towel wrapped around her body.
Elsa opened her wardrobe grabbing whatever came in her hands and threw them on (picture in the media). She tied her hair in a messy bun and came out of her room shoving her phone, wallet and apartment keys in her sling bag.
