Chapter 21: He's burned.

❄️

Jack entered his apartment, with his shoulders slumped like they were carrying a huge burden. He sat on a couch and placed his black blazer on the arm of the couch. His hand worked on the tie around his neck and loosened it, tossing it aside as well. Jack muttered obscenities under his breath as he knocked his shoes off.

The funeral was overwhelming.

Facebook, walked towards him and jumped on the couch beside him placing it's head on his lap as it whimpered. Jack's fingers automatically travelled to it's fur and gently stroked it's head, "You miss her, buddy?" His voice came out hoarse and dry.

The dog looked up at him with it's sad black eyes, "Me too."

The whole apartment felt dark and utterly quiet, this silence felt overwhelming as it scared him shitless. He shuddered and laid down on the couch like a ball, his breath came out shaky as his eyes stared into the distance, his knees almost touching his chest.

There was an emptiness in his heart that Jack couldn't quite pin point. But he sure knew it was making his chest to tighten. And he was feeling like someone broke through his chest and was squeezing his heart and it was getting harder to breathe.

His breathing hitched as he choked on his tears, he clenched the fabric of his shirt tightly as salty liquid fell from his eyes and soaked into the couch. All the promises he made to himself in the darkest and coldest nights of his life were shattering right in front of his eyes.

"Stupid, stupid, fucking stupid!" He hit his clenched fists on his head several times, before bursting into tears again. Facebook jumped from the couch and looked at him with it's ears standing in alert.

"How could I make such a mistake?!" He shouted, as more tears threatened to fall from his eyes. Facebook barked as it jumped in restlessness and put it's front paws on Jack's knees.

"I killed her!" He shouted once again, as he grabbed fistful of his silver hair and pulled them hard.

"I fucking killed her!" He grabbed the glass vase from the center of the tea table and smashed it against the wall.

"I took everything away from her!" He covered his eyes with his hands as he screamed at the top of his lungs, he felt poison running through his veins and that was burning every inch of him like someone was pouring acid on him over and over again and his skin was slowly peeling off and his stinging wounds were pricked with thousands of needles.

He stood up from the couch, his fingers frantically ripping his button down shirt open, he tossed it aside but his skin was still burning, he ran inside the bathroom and filled the bathtub with ice cold water.

"Look at yourself! And tell me what do you see?" His hand had fistful of her hair as he made her look into her reflection in the water that he just spilled from the water bottle onto the ground.

She continued to cry, feeling vulnerable and very, very scared. "Speak!" He jerked her hair making her yelp as she looked into her reflection.

Her beautiful platinum blonde hair were disheveled, her clothes were torn apart and lying on the rough ground somewhere. Thick tears poured down her crystal blue eyes, "I-I don't k-k-know." She winced as he once again pulled her hair.

"I'll tell you." He seethed disgustedly. "I see a bitch, an unworthy bitch. A whore. Say that you deserve this!" He whispered, his lips pressed against her ear.

"I'm an... I-I'm an unwor-thy bitch, whore... And I deser-ve this..." She repeated, her voice barely audible.

He jerked her head from her hair again, facing her. And slapped her hard on the face, he slapped her again. Not once. Not twice. Not thrice. He hit her till he was breathless and she was tired of crying and begging for him to stop.
