Chapter 28: Popsicle, Peeps and Pee Pee?
❄️
Rain was falling like there was no tomorrow, trees around were rustling because of the cold wind, some people were running around for shelter, some were walking on the sidewalk with their umbrellas, cars were moving to their destinations. The once blue sky was dark with clouds and there was no sign of sun anywhere. There was booming of thunder and lightning after every minute or so. It was just beautiful.
But...
But he wasn't looking outside, sitting in an ice cream parlor on a corner table right next to the glass wall, he was staring at her beaming face, who was looking at the pictures he snapped or more like was forced to snap.
"In this picture, my eyes are half closed, it's almost like I'm drunk or something." She complained, she was continuously insulting his photography skills.
"I'm a doctor, a cardiologist, not a photographer." Jack rolled his eyes, holding back a smile as he looked at her, she was mocking his expression.
"Your sundae is melting." He shook his head at her childishness.
"Oops!" She took two spoonfuls of her chocolate chip sundae then clutched her head, "Ow! Brain freeze..." She yelped making him chuckle at her naivety.
Was Naivety the right word to explain her personality? He was positive.
He grabbed her polaroid camera and snapped a picture of her very compromising situation. Her face was already red, she was clutching her head and her nose was scrunched like a bunny's.
"Press your tongue against the roof of your mouth, it'll help." Jack smiled at the new picture he held in his hand and put it in his jeans' pocket.
She had plenty of them, it won't hurt if he keeps one, right? There's no harm in it. God knows what he was thinking or what he was feeling, he was confused with his feelings. God knows what she was doing that made him feel like a teenage boy all over again.
It was like he was falling in love for the first time.
She followed his instructions and looked at him with a beaming smile, her big eyes were literally twinkling, she was looking at him like he was a great magician and he performed a super cool magic trick on her.
"Cool! It really worked." She giggled, while he just stared at her flabbergasted, why couldn't he just stop time and stare at her for as long as he wanted or maybe to capture another picture of her but he couldn't do that right now.
Unconsciously, he pressed his hand on his jeans' pocket which held her picture securely. He felt as if the whole world had it's eyes on that one photograph, the whole world knew his dark secret. He looked around and some glances fell on them, a drop of sweat trickled down his forehead. To him their gazes looked as if they were saying, 'we know your secret.'
"I'm going insane." He mumbled to himself as he rubbed his temples.
"Did you say something?" Elsa asked taking spoonfuls of her sundae, wincing and pressing her tongue against the roof of her mouth again.
Jack shook his head at her childishness. 'She is crazy,' he thought in his head but smiled at himself because he liked it that way.
He was falling for the crazy girl sitting across him.
"You're crazy." Jack was saying this with a smile, his elbow was resting on the table and his palm was holding his chin. He took a bite of his double mint oreo sundae.
Elsa only stuck her tongue out in response making him shake his head. Jack looked at her chocolate chip sundae with interest, Elsa looked at him with her scrutinizing gaze and pulled her sundae closer to herself.
