It was a stupendous area for one wouldn't think it was a land for the dead at first glance. Stone enchanted by a powerful god, mined from inside the finest mountains and moulded with their names engraved on it that no extreme climate nor war could land a crack on one. No moss or dirt can even stain it for more than just an incense. Flowers bloomed around the grass, stone paths leading to different certain beds while a golden path lead up to a more particulary important married couple.
It wasn't sunny nor windy. Just the dark gray clouds coating under the supposed blue sky that should've brought more light and energy and maybe even perhaps, joy.
Not this. Not this stinging ache in his chest as if someone just pierced such big needle right inside his ribcage, skipping all the flesh and muscles.
Mu Qing didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "It's a burial ground of fucking Xian Le." He spoke, incredulous. He moves to step on the golden path instead, resolutely not caring which noble family or where the other stone paths lead up to. No matter how much he tells himself that he forgived, secretly within, he still resents. Fingers lightly tracing over the tombstones that were built high enough for his hands to reach. Unsure if he was going to be jealous that even in death, the two-faced nobles would still feel the honour of experiencing Taizi Dianxia's kindness for his people, regardless if they were a traitorous bastard of the kingdom or bullied an innocent pure soul ranking lower than them just because they knew the said innocent wouldn't be able to fight back.
However, Feng Xin merely smiled, nodding. "It is."
"Where or how did you even manage this? When did you even start this?" The silverette questions in blatant disbelief. For all he remembered, Feng Xin was with him every second of the day whether to pester him or solely just accompanying him with his presence and to have created such a burial yard wider than the former palace of Xian Le would take about half a year if not a year itself. Unless, "It's Crimson Rain and His Highness?"
"Who the fuck would it else been?" Feng Xin arches a brow before roving his eyes around the area, steps soft and leisure as he walks on the same path. "I wouldn't have probably finished it anyway."
"Why?"
"Because I'm too busy already with-" Mu Qing makes an indignant noise, cutting him off.
"No, I meant why would Xie Lian suddenly squander his time in creating such - such scurvy cemetery?" He makes vague gestures around, stopping just beside two tombstones, each carved with the names he wasn't familiar of. How Xie Lian even managed to know their names despite them dying with a human face disease or scorched with the burning robbles of the Xian Le kingdom when it fell, remains a mystery.
The archer shrugs, "It's not that bad to be called scurvy. Besides, he said people - commoner or not should be atleast given a formal burial." He says, observing how his lover visibly fall into a deep thought. He sighed, a thinking Mu Qing at times like this was worse than a loud and whiny Mu Qing. "Crimson Rain was actually the first to suggest it-" He starts, "And Xie Lian was ecstatic about it and called for me-"
"Why didn't you tell me?"
Feng Xin rolled his eyes in fond exasperation. "Because you were on a week long mission and you said not to disturb you unless you're the one knocking in our communication array." He explains, making sure his voice was cool and calm. "Plus, I thought it would be a good surprise. We would've come here just after you came back but then when you did, you were all bloody and messy and limping. You were dying for fuck's sake and you didn't come to me?"
It was Mu Qing's turn to roll his eyes, no mirth under it. "That's because I was dying. The last thing I want to see when I die is you crying." He folds his arms over his chest in a slight attempt to remove the image of his lover crying whilst he holds his last breath on his arms. "And I wasn't limping."
