Chapter 5- Poor Taeyong

Previously on, NEO GOT MY BACK...

After a couple of minutes, the elder omega rolled over and reached into his nightstand drawer. He pulled out a little plastic baggy that he had stashed in there. He opened the bag and pulled out the item inside of it. The little stick that he held in his hand was mocking him, with that stupid smiley face on it. Taeyong knew from the time that he took that damn test this morning; he knew before he even got the results. And looking at the test now only confirms all of his worst fears and anxiety rolled up into one. And, of course, this had to happen at the worst time. In all this shit-storm that was this mission, that's probably messier than they realize. Taeyong, the dumbass he is, gets himself pregnant.

Taeyong couldn't keep his eyes off of the test. It didn't make everyone think he was losing his mind and was on the brink of insanity. Taeyong would argue with you that the little piece of plastic was mocking him and was enjoying it. He had only taken the thing less than 24 hours previously, but it felt like he's known this for weeks at this point. God, his sense of time was so screwed up. And to be honest, Taeyong has no idea why he even went to take the damn test. Well, scratch that he does. He had been feeling really run down these past couple of weeks or so. Though he had just chucked it all up to stress and left it at that. He could tell that his team was concerned about it, but he just brushed them off and told them he'd go to bed early for once. And even though he was getting more sleep than he had in a while, he was still exhausted. And things only got worse when they got the news of the Empathy job.

The night that Lee So-Man had given them the job and all of the information that they had, along with the time frame and deadline they had to get this done by, Taeyong knew that it would be wrong. He had stayed up half the night pouring over reports and trying to piece everything together after sending everyone else off to bed a couple of hours previous. He knew that going into the meeting that day, he probably wouldn't sleep tonight. So Taeyong had done his best to try and avoid his mate ever since. He knew that Johnny would probably be pissed at him for agreeing to this job, let alone leading it in his current condition. Still, Taeyong didn't really have a choice at the moment. He also knew that the alpha would have given up on trying to change his mind and would have wanted to drag him off to get some sleep if he was doing this. But the thing was that Taeyong didn't have any time to sleep if they would get all of this done by the time it needed to be done. So he was hiding away in one of the old conference rooms that no one uses anymore, knowing that it would take Johnny forever to try and find him.

Even though he did feel guilty about avoiding his mate, Taeyong knew he had to do it. And he was making significant progress in his work. That is until his stomach started acting weird. Taeyong thought he was just hungry since he hadn't eaten that day. But when he ate some crackers that Donghyuck had no doubt had shoved in his bag at one point since he thinks that Taeyong will accidentally starve himself to death. But that only worked to make his stomach even tighter than it already was. So Taeyong chalked it up to stress, which wasn't uncommon for him to get an upset stomach when he was stressed. Though the longer it went on, the more his stomach hurt, and when it started to roll, making large waves of nausea crash into him, Taeyong knew that something was wrong. He ended up spending half the night bent over a trash can in that room throwing up the contents of his stomach, which in all honesty wasn't a whole lot. Taeyong gave up and decided to turn in for the night, hoping to sleep it off when he was done. The only issue was that it wouldn't go away.

For the most part, he hid his mysterious illness from the others. The only ones who knew that he was sick were Johnny and Doyoung. Other than that, he was pretty sure that the rest of NCT was clueless about what was going on. Though he had a sinking suspicion that Kun and Yuta knew it too, he wasn't going to talk about it openly with them. Even though his mate and best friend were very concerned about him at the moment, he brushed them off and kept working. Regardless of how stubborn Taeyong may or may not be, Johnny was a lot more stubborn than he was. The only reason that the alpha let him continue working in his condition was that Doyoung was on the same team for this mission and could keep an eye on him when Johnny couldn't. Even though Taeyong hated to be babysat, he knew that it was the only way that he was going to get any work done.
