Chapter 17- A Traitor Revealed
The only thing that keeps Jaehyun from ripping people's heads off is Doyoung's hand on his thigh. He knew he needed to keep his head screwed on straight, or else this would all go to shit faster than it already is. And no matter how much he wants to get up and rip Park Daewon's head off, he can't. He's more preoccupied with watching over his mate and his little brother as they try to currently stop the bleeding from their father's bullet wound. He and Lucas act as human shields so the two Kim brothers can work without Park getting too close.
Even if he wasn't worried about protecting his team and his injured father-in-law, he didn't know how clear-headed he would be in this situation. For years Agent Park was a very respectful figure in their organization. Sure, he was a stickler for the rules, and everyone thought he could be a colossal dick most of the time, but he was a damn good agent. And his skill level made up for his lacking personality. Out of every other agent that has ever served under SM, he is the last one anyone would ever expect to betray them. So to find out that he's been going behind everybody's back for the past 30 years, it's a hard blow.
This is the man that was behind the death of Jaemin and Jisung's mother. The man sent his parents on a suicide mission, knowing they were leaving two orphans. The man who kidnapped Taeyong, Ten, and Hansol. The man who gave the order to kill Hansol. He gave the order to take Mark and would have probably killed the young alpha if they hadn't gotten there in time. Who shot his father-in-law, his supposed best friend, right in front of his own children. What kind of monster does that sort of thing?
The alpha was so mad that he was seeing red. He wanted to walk over there and rip the elder's throat out. But he had to keep a cool head about this. It wasn't just him this time; he had more to worry about. Doyoung and Jungwoo were working on getting their father comfortable enough to where he couldn't aggravate the bullet wound. While he and Lucas were acting as human shields to protect their mates and father-in-law from the crazy psycho right before them.

Looking over his shoulder, Jaehyun was met with the back of his mate's head. Doyoung bent over his father, helping his little brother put pressure on the bullet wound. The beta was so wrapped up trying to keep his father alive that he wasn't paying attention to that much else around him. Jungwoo wasn't doing any better himself, in the alpha's opinion. He was trying his best to keep calm and steady to treat his father to the best of his ability. But Jaehyun has known the guy since he was a little kid and always hid behind his older brother's legs. He knows when the omega is scared out of his wits and is on the brink of a mental breakdown. And Jungwoo seems to be pushing his limits.
All that Jaehyun could hope for was that the rest of the team would get here soon. Doyoung sounded the alarm about 20 minutes ago, signaling they needed help. Park was trying to figure out what to do next. So they had some time before they were considered in danger, but they needed to know how much longer they had. As soon as Park figures out what he wants to do with them. Jaehyun knows that he and Lucas are going to have to act quickly. And he didn't want to put anyone else in danger. But if Park gets any bright ideas, he will have to act. He's not going to stand there and let his family be hurt, especially if he can stop it.
He didn't trust Park as far as he could throw him now. The man was angry and unhinged at this point. He just shot his supposed best friend in the shoulder, for Godsake! And after learning of his 30-year reign of terror, Jaehyun has no idea what the man is capable of. This greatly unnerves him to the point of pure unadulterated terror. But he keeps having to tell himself to remain calm and collected. His family depends on him to try and get them out of this mess. And if he tries to make a move when his mind is clouded with panic, he could likely get all of them killed. He can't risk that, so his only option is to remain calm and not act. He needs to wait for reinforcement, but he doesn't know how long they have until Park finally snaps. He just hopes they can wait that long.
