Part Eighteen- Taken Under

It was the night of the next day. The night before the tournament. Pansy, Blaise, Draco, Theodore, and I were all in the common room talking about Winter break and things like that when Professor Snape came in. "Ms.Diggory, Professor McGonagall needs to see you in her office." "Right now," I questioned. "Yes, now." Snape said before walking out. "That's weird why would she need me this late?" I looked back to the group. "Well whatever it is you better go, it may be important." Pansy said. "I'll walk you up." Draco reached out a hand."Can I go with you two because I don't want to be stuck here with these two lovebirds alone." Theo said. "You do know they are together too right?" Blaise asked him. "Clearly, but Kaitlyn is my best friend so I would much rather deal with them than you lot." "Yes, you can come, Theo, let's go I don't want to keep her waiting any longer." I said to him, motioning to the door. Theodore jumped up and walked out with Draco and me. I held Draco's hand on the left as Theo walked on my right up to McGonagall's office. Once we got there I knocked and she opened the door. "Ms. Diggory, Please come in." She told me as she stepped to the side. I started to walk in, releasing Draco's hand before he tightened his grip and pulled me back. "Wait! Do you want me to wait for you out here?" He asked as he stood in front of me. "No, it's okay. I'll meet you back there." I told him as I rested a hand on his cheek, rubbing it with my thumb. "But I don't want you to have to walk back at night by yourself love." Draco said concerned. "I promise I'll be okay." I told him. "Good night Theo," I said while hugging him and giving him a quick kiss on the cheek. "And I'll see you back in the common room." I told Draco giving him a soft kiss on the lips before walking back into the office. "Be safe and don't do anything stupid on your way back!" Draco added as I shut the door. When I turned around I saw familiar faces. "Cedric, Emily, Fleur, What are you guys doing here?" McGonagall answered slightly "I called you all to talk about arrangements for the tournament tomorrow. As you know the champions, you two and the others" She pointed to Fleur and Cedric before continuing "Are supposed to retrieve something from the black lake. Something very important or meaningful to each of the champions like a friend, sibling, or kin." "Wait, you're saying that we're going to be put at the bottom of the lake?!" My eyes widened. "More or less. You would be put under a charm that lets you basically sleep underwater for a time being and it breaks the second you get to the surface of the water. Seeing as Ms. Delacour is unable to retrieve her first pick, she thought of you, Kaitlyn." McGonagall said to me. "Only if you're okay with it Kaitlyn. My sister is sick and would be unfit to take part in the task so I thought of you and asked Cedric if he had picked you. When he said that Emily Lupin was going under for him I wanted to ask if you would for me." Fleur said sounding kinda nervous and all over the place. "Um yeah of course Fleur." I told her. "Do you think you need two ask someone first?" Emily asked referring to Draco. "Yeah me!" Cedric added sarcastically. "Very funny Cedric, and no he will understand." I laughed. "Great it's settled then! I will see you two champions tomorrow morning." McGonagall said waving them out. "Wait, excuse me professor do Emily and I have to stay here tonight?" "No Ma'am Ms. Diggory. I was just going to explain a few things and then you two will be off." McGonagall said and then explained that we would be put under a spell and taken to the bottom of the lake. She also said that the spell would be just like if we were sleeping. "You two will have to be here at 6 tomorrow morning and then we can go over the rest in the morning. Good night girls." Once we were shown out we said good night to each other and then headed back to the dorms.

When I returned I saw my love, laying sound asleep on the couch in the common room. He was so perfect and so peaceful-looking. I quietly walked up and slowly laid on him, burying my face in his neck. He adjusted slightly and wrapped his arms around me before kissing the top of my head. "What did she want?" He groaned softly. "She just had said that she wants me to be a part of the tournament tomorrow." "What do you mean part of the tournament?" He said as he rubbed his eyes before pulling my legs to the side and sitting up with me on his lap, leaning against his chest. "They want me to be put under a spell and then taken to the bottom of the lake for the champions to retrieve more specifically, Fleur." I explained to a concerned-looking Draco. "No! Absolutely not, you're not an object they can just do whatever they want to. Do they not understand you could die? Do you not understand you couldn't die?" "Hey, hey, calm down. I understand the risk and so do they but Fleur is also really good Draco and plus it's an opportunity for me to get my father to notice me for once." "This isn't about your father's recognization Kaitlyn. Even if Fleur is good, people mess up. The only thing is if she messes up, it could cost you your life." It was hard to disagree with him because after all, he was right.
