The calm before the storm

Do you hear that?
The calm before the storm?
The dawn before the mourn?
The moment before my heart is torn?

Confused attachment with love,
I was never enough,
Using me to ease your sadness,
Manipulating my blindness.
Because I am an option,
Not an obligation.
I am a pawn,
Here for you to move on.

I knew the words before they left your mouth.
I felt the feelings without a doubt.
Emotionally devoid.
No reaction.
Silent.
Annoyed.
Nothing delivers realization like the blow,
The short storm with destruction in tow.
I cry the most thinking of good memories,
What it was like before you left me.

You remain the ground from which I grow on,
Everywhere I go, but long gone.
Indented in my memory,
Is the person you helped me be.

Remedy for you,
Obliged to be one too,
Mending your broken heart strings,
Till you played beautifully,
Trying to force what was never meant to be.
