"Rainbow Dash, the captain wants you in her office."
It happened a few weeks after she became a recruit. She remembered the nerve-wracking walk to the office as she thought about what she had done wrong.
Was she in trouble?
"Enter." The captain's voice said through the door at Rainbow's knock.
"Hey, recruit. Care to tell me why the daughter of Cloudsdale's richest man is living in this building when she's supposed to be in Italy?"
Spitfire's eyes pierced Rainbow Dash's.
She was caught.

She brought up a deal.
After Spitfire's question, the captain immediately told the recruit to return to her home. Where she was safe. Back to her old house.
Back to her father.
And for the first time in her life, Rainbow Dash begged.
She begged to stay. She begged to have a shot - Just a chance at being a Wonderbolt.
The captain was quiet for some time...
Until she finally talked.
"Fine. You can stay here. I won't tell your father. I'll make you a Wonderbolt. But," she looked sharply, "being a Wonderbolt means being in the spot light all the time. You can't hide forever, Dash."
After that, the Wonderbolts gained a new teammate.
She had reached her dream.
But why did it feel so unfulfilling?
