"We're extending our stay." I clicked off the button on the radio mic.
"We could really use you here though." John radioed back.
"I know, but we're gonna gather what supplies we can get here, and bring it back with us. It would be rude to show up empty handed." I reassured him.
"We've been makin' runs to the warehouse to get what was left behin', hopin' it can be used for the walls." John responded.
"Just stick with that plan for now, small runs here and there, please save what you can from the greenhouses." I begged. I worked hard on and in the greenhouses when I could, heck I helped build them and start the crops.
"We were able to salvage tomatoes, peppers, carrots, potatoes, and an onion plant. We're tryna nurse the strawberry plants back to health, along with the apple tree." John informed.
"Did you find the seeds?" I asked.
"Ya right where you said they were." John answered. Morgan then politely asked for the radio, he wanted to say a few things.
"John, it's Morgan, give me an update on everything." Morgan ordered.
"The walkers are less frequent, I think the smell is helpin', we've started gettin' our cement made for the 'walker wall'." John responded. The walker wall was an idea I had when I noticed how high the dead walkers started piling up and the other walkers couldn't get over them, and soon gave up. My idea was to stack the corpses high enough and thick enough, cover it in straw/ grass mixed with mud and clay, and ta-da a wall! It was easier then cleaning up the bodies around the new wall, plus it made the wall stronger.
"Don't forget safety precautions for those workin' on that wall, gloves, long sleeves, face coverin's, and someone on watch." Morgan reminded.
"Yeah, we've got that covered. But Morgan, when're you gonna come back. 'Cause we have a situation and we ain't sure what to do about it." John sounded a little stressed now.
"What is it?" Morgan was on edge now.
"It's Daniel, his memories goin' he don't know what he's done, or what he hasn't done, and it's becomin' a problem." John explained.
"What happened?" Morgan asked, I listened intently. Daniel always kept to himself, he only liked Charlie, he never caused trouble and could always solve any problem.
"Well after you left, he become nervous that we were gonna be attacked again. He had forgot you left he thought you were dead. One day all of our guns and ammo, along with other spare weapons were gone, nowhere to be found. Daniel was convinced we were being attacked and the outlaws took it all. We searched all over the woods and the neighborhood, until we found it all in Daniel's house. He had no recollection of how it ended up in his house, the last couple days were just gone from his mind. We've kept him in his home with Charlie and Lucy as company, but we can't keep him locked up forever." Morgan and I looked at each other.
"No, you're right he doesn't need to be locked up, he just needs to be looked after, like a grandparent. Visit him every day, spend the day with him, and help him out. This is something we all have to get used to, everything will be alright." Morgan reassured.
"But why're ya stayin' there longer, can't one of ya come back?" John asked annoyed. I took the radio from Morgan, knowing anything I said John would accept it, and I was going to tell him the truth.
"Thing is, there's a possible threat headin' this way, and even though Alexandria doesn't know it yet, they're gonna need our help. So we're stayin' to help. We'll be looking for signs or clues of a threat, but we're hoping all stays quiet over here so we can come back." I explained.
