Things were fragile between Daryl and I, some days were better than others. Today was a bad day for him, he was still struggling with the pain in his arm, he told me it felt like his arm was constantly asleep, but it wasn't there for that to be possible, so it annoyed him. I always had to be careful on his bad days, he couldn't function well on these days, but I would still make him hold Rue; she made him happy, and forget about the pain. He felt more comfortable holding her when she was in the sling carrier, because she was close, stable, and comfortable.

Today we were awaiting the arrival of Eugene, and in a few weeks we would be heading for Virginia. Scout was absolutely thrilled about this trip, he couldn't wait to see Judith again, he missed her. The two young kids would send mail back and forth with Eugene. Scout was also excited to see Eugene, he was eager to learn from him after a talk I had with him one day about possibly staying in Alexandria and learning under Eugene.

"Mom do you think Eugene will have a letter for me?" Scout asked anxiously as he stood at the gate with me.

"I'm sure he will, Judith is always on top of that." I smiled.

After clearing out the walkers that had made their way toward us, we had to lay down some rules. At nightfall all windows had to be covered so walkers wouldn't see the light, and it also meant silence. It was a little rough at first, walkers were still moving in from all the walker traffic. We had piles of walker bodies against one barrier, but it helped to keep the walkers from noticing us, but the smell was awful. Since arriving in our new homes we had constant watch shifts around the perimeter, people posted on each house to keep an eye out for walkers. We were slowly finding supplies to start putting up walls, so we had a few sections up here and there. Eugene would be bringing some stuff with him when he arrived who he brought with him would be a surprise I guess.

"Mom I see them!" Scout pointed out into the distance. A horse and buggy came into view, I could see Eugene in the driver seat.

I adjusted Rue on my chest, giving her, her pacifier as I watched Eugene come up to the gate.

"Nice little place ya got here." Eugene smiled brightly at us once he was at the gate.

"Eugene!" Scout greeted. Eugene steered his way in, parking the horse and buggy, he hopped down quickly to be hugged by Scout.

"It's good to see ya little Scout." Eugene hugged him lifting him off the ground for a second.

"It's good to see you again Eugene." I smiled at him, and he lightly embraced me, careful not to squish Rue.

"This must be the new one." Eugene said in a light voice.

"This is Rue, and she is now a month old." I happily introduced.

"Oh my." Eugene awed over her. "Well I got a surprise for ya'll." He turned back to the buggy his long braid swinging around.

Eugene opened the hatch on the buggy, pulling a chest out, then held his hand out to help someone down. She was small, she wore a large brown brimmed hat, with a katana on her back.

"Judith!" Scout ran at her excitedly, tackling her to the ground, the both of them laughing.

Next someone I didn't expect stepped out of the buggy, Aaron, who had a metal arm, and a big beard on his face. Aaron helped a blonde girl about Judith's age out of the buggy.

"Aaron." I greeted him. "What're you doing here?" I asked.

"Eugene told me you guys were having a rough time, I'm here to help." Aaron smiled. "Oh and if you don't remember, this is Gracie." He introduced.

"She has grown up so much." I smiled at her and she shied away. Gracie was a baby when we found her during the war with the Savior's.

"Miss Hazel!" Ezekiel exclaimed as he saw me.
