"So who'd you send out?" I asked Morgan noticing him stay close to the gates.
"I sent out Darius, he wanted to go back out, Clarence, Jade, and Vern." Morgan said simply.
"They should be back in no time, all of them are get in and get out people." I reassured him. "Don't worry."
"They left three days ago, they should be back by now." Morgan stated.
"Anything could be holding them up." I suggested.
"I guess, but I'm worried that that man from the hardware store, had a group, and that group might've found our people." Morgan mentioned, that's when I thought about Eugene and Carl, shit.
"Can I use the radio?" I asked.
"Why?" Morgan asked.
"I have to make sure Eugene and Carl made it home." I said hastily.
"Go ahead." I went to the office at the front and sat down in front of the radio. I flipped a few switches, then pressed the mic button, taking a moment before I spoke.
"Eugene, Carl this is Hazel, I'm just checking in to see if you got back okay." I sat back in the chair waiting for someone to respond for a moment before speaking into the mic again. "Eugene, Carl, this is Hazel checking in to make sure you made it home, calling from a secure line." I added just in case they were afraid that someone was listening.
"Hello, Hazel?" I heard a voice on the other side. "This is Aaron."
"Aaron, please tell me Eugene and Carl got home." I said back.
"Uh yeah, they did, a while ago, why?" Aaron asked.
"We've just got a situation here and I was hoping they missed it." I explained.
"Here's Eugene." Aaron said before Eugene spoke.
"Hazel, what's going on?" Eugene said through the radio.
"I just wanted to make sure you made it home with no trouble." I sighed heavily.
"We made it home, with little trouble, at the Texas border we ran into some outlaw types, I don't remember their questions but they seemed mean." Eugene answered.
"Yeah we encountered them the day you showed up, they want us out of Texas, they say this is their's." I explained.
"This is Carl. We can send more people your way to help out if you want." Carl offered.
"No anyone that ain't white they'll kill, did I mention these people are racist as hell." I smirked a little.
"Yeah I found that out when they were grilling me and Eugene." Carl answered.
"I miss talking to you guys, I hope to live long enough to have another visit from you soon." I said nostalgically.
"Don't talk like that, I'll visit again in no time. We'll get to talk face to face again Miss Hazel, this is Eugene by the way." Eugene said determined.
"I figured." I laughed. "Oh one more thing, I have another little one on the way." I said with a smirk.
"Wait, really, how you feeling, Daryl takin' care of ya?" Eugene asked, still wanting to talk.
"I feel good, and Daryl is taking very good care of me." I smiled.
"How much longer ya have 'til the little one arrives?" Eugene asked.
"Around five more weeks, none of my pants fit anymore." I smirked.
"Wear Daryl's." Eugene answered quickly.
"Not sure he would appreciate that." I laughed again.
"Well he played a part in your current situation, he can sacrifice a pair of jeans for ya." Eugene said sternly.
"I'll let him know." I was smiling wildly.
"Alright then, I plan to be back there in five weeks time." Eugene answered back.
"I look forward to it." I felt tears burning in my eyes, how I missed Virginia, but I felt Texas needed me more.
"I'll see you in five weeks Miss Hazel, congratulations, good bye." Eugene spoke softly.
"Bye Eugene, bye Carl." I said back quietly fighting tears. I heard Carl yell a goodbye from afar.
I got up taking deep breaths, wiping my tears away before leaving the office, going over to Morgan.
"They stopped Eugene and Jesus, they might have us blocked in." I clarified.
"Alright let's get everyone together for a meeting, we need to get to work on walls. I don't know if the fence will be enough." Morgan said to me and several others that were grouped around, the group dispersing.
I began walking the warehouse in search of Daryl and Scout, just to check up on Scout, and I needed some comfort from Daryl.
"Hey, what's going on?" Daryl found me first.
"Uh, Morgan's getting a meeting together, he has something to announce." I answered.
"Are you okay, what's wrong?" Daryl asked instantly concerned.
"I talked to Eugene and Carl. I just miss everyone back in Virginia." I sniffled.
"Hey we'll see them all again." Daryl hugging me lovingly. "They just need us here right now."
"Eugene told me he'd come back in five weeks, when the baby is due." I told Daryl.
"So they made it home okay?" Daryl asked.
"Yeah, they did get stopped by those cowboy guys though, that's what Morgan's announcement is about." I explained.
"Alright well let's go see where we can help." Daryl grabbed my hand and we gathered at the front.
"Where's Sherry?" I asked, skimming the crowd.
"She's been helping out Warren." Daryl stated carefully.
"Oh, good." I shrugged, annoyed. Morgan finished announcing everything that needed to be done, everyone dispersing to get the warehouse fortified.
"Don't worry about her babe." Daryl wrapped his arms around me.
"I'm not, I'm not." I sighed heavily. "I just wish I could've got one more punch in." I said as I looked around.
"I'm sure you will." Daryl grumbled. "You don't think this baby will be hotheaded and stubborn like you, right?" I punched Daryl in the arm.
"Shut up. I remember somebody being pretty pissed off about everything not that long ago." I reminded him.
"Now look at us a couple of gummy bears." Daryl squeezed me a bit.
"What?" I looked at him. "I have never heard that expression in my life." I laughed.
"I was thinking soft, and probably chewy." Daryl explained.
"Well that's dark." I smiled.
"C'mon, let's see what job we can get for you." Daryl led me away through the warehouse.
This was just one of those cute things we did almost everyday. Everyday felt like something out of a movie, or something you read about in a book. Things like this made me know that everything was about to take a turn that none of us would be ready for.

Hey everybody!
So the birth of Daryl and Hazel's baby is coming up, and let me tell you it has been the biggest struggle!! I have rewritten the birth scene like three times, then I've changed the baby's name like ten times! So I'm asking for help from my readers. I am taking suggestions, and even a collaboration would be fun, I've never collaborated with anyone. Message me or leave a comment, and as always thank you for reading!
