The group of heroes enters the Heart of Darkness, the wall of abyssal mist sealing them in. The Core of Light illuminates a large dome shaped arena, a dark tear in reality resting at its center. The dark rift rises in the air, slowly leaking out a dark mist as it travels higher up in the dome. The growing mist coalesces into the face of the Darkness.

"WELL, WELL." The dark entity smiles. "LOOK WHO HAS BROUGHT ME THE ONE THING I NEED TO ESCAPE THIS PRISON. AND HERE I WAS EXPECTING YOU TO OPPOSE ME, BUT NO... NO YOU LONG FOR YOUR DESTRUCTION."

"Not ours," Brain laughs. "Yours."

Using that as the signal, Kaos and Eon both summon their arcane energy and begin funneling it into the rift key in Flynn's hands. The key begins to glow with a silver aura as the powers of a dark and light Portal Master clash within it.

Flynn inserts the key into the device Mags had built into the Core. He turns it and the Core of Light's ivory glow turns silver.

Brain waves one of his tentacles, his arcane angling the Core directly at the grinning Darkness. "I'd say it's been a pleasure to know you, but it hasn't." He quips.

The Darkness stares down their imminent demise with an arrogant smile. "KAOS," is all they say.

The Core of Light begins to wind down, its light returning to its natural white coloring. Brain looks back at it confused. "What happened?"

Flynn turns the key back and forth in the device. "It's not working anymore!" He yells in panic.

"By the Ancients," Eon whispers, letting go of his arcane power, his eyes turning to face Kaos.

The short villain stumbles backwards, his hands holding tightly onto his head. "What is... GET OUT OF MY HEAD!" His struggle abruptly ceases.

"Kaos, you must fight it," Eon says. "We need your power."

Kaos slowly raises his head, revealing eyes as black as night, a stream of mist leaking from the corners.

"The Mist has him!" Brain calls out.

Eon's spirit rushes to the Core.

Mist Kaos summons his power and throws it at the Core of Light, his intention to destroy it.

Flynn flinches as Eon reaches the Core, throwing out his arms to stop the attack, but the magic was too strong. Black lightning arcs across the Core, damaging its hull and ripping parts off of it. It breaks through Eon's barrier and strikes the Rift Key's activator in Flynn's hands.

The Core of Light dwindles, it's light beginning to fade as the Darkness laughs, their form becoming more solid in their dimension, the dark rift opening even wider. "YES, KAOS! FREE ME OF MY PRISON!"

Brain rushes to the Core of Light, helping Flynn to his feet. "Are you all right?"

The pilot nods, holding his hands up, showing the broken parts of the rift key's device. "Yes, but look!"

"Oh dear," Brain mutters. He turns to speak to Eon only to find his spirit incredibly transparent. The old Portal Master looks tired, his spirit on the brink of collapse.

"The Core dwindles," Eon says raggedly. "I fear there is not much I can do..." His spirit becomes fully transparent.

Brain looks at the mess around them, nodding his head to the Skylander and to Flynn. "Looks like it's up to us to fix it..."

He cuts off as the mist Kaos throws another blast at the Core of Light. He throws up a protective barrier that blocks the blast, the reverberations of the attack shaking him in the process. "Ugh, he's strong," Brain grimaces. "I do not know how long I can keep us protected."
