Chapter Gimmick: Every area in this level is derived from a previous level in the Skylanders franchise. As you navigate your way through these areas, you will have to continue to stabilize the rift.
Each area has a rift that must be stabilized. This is done via a simple interact button that will immediately stabilize it. Each time you do that, you will have forty five seconds before the rift becomes unstable again and you will begin to take continuous damage (5 damage a second). Rift instability is indicated by how shaky the screen is. Stabilizing the rift can be done at any time, it automatically sets to a 45 second timer no matter when you do it.
For some areas where you want to explore, you will want to return to the rifts quickly and often enough to avoid taking damage. The rifts are placed in central enough areas where this shouldn't be that big of an issue.
The goal is to find Flynn, the REAL Flynn, and the Academy. Evil Flynn is trying to do the same.
LEVEL START A familiar scene plays out in the Shattered Islands (the very first level of Spyro's Adventure). Hot air balloons fill the air as mabu flee the village. A great tornado tears apart the islands. Hugo watches this from one of the islands.

"I know that you are watching, oh great Portal Master! I am Hugo, and we have much to do! This village needs our help!" Hugo yells from atop an island in the Shattered Islands.
He looks down at Spyro, Trigger Happy, and Gill Grunt. "Do you think they heard me?"
"Oh, I'm sure they did," Spyro says skeptically. "But if you don't mind, we have some saving to do."
"Ah, yes! Save away!"
The three Skylanders run off across a bridge and into the village.
"May the Ancients have mercy — Ah!" A giant rock, thrown from the tornado, decimates the bridge.
A rift suddenly opens up above Hugo and out of it drops the Skylander and Cali. Hugo screams. Again.
Hugo slowly calms his breathing, fixing his glasses in the process. "Cali... how did you? How did you get here? I thought you were in the Perilous Pastures?"
Cali gives him a weird look before looking around at everything. "I was... six years ago. Wait, Hugo, what villain are you fighting?"
"Uh, I'm not fighting anyone. But if you're meaning the Skylanders, they're going after Kaos."
"Hm, I suppose that doesn't narrow it down that much." She muses. "Is it the first time Kaos has tried to conquer the Skylands or the fifth? The wild tornado makes me thing this either the elementals or the Sky Eater."
"The Sky Eater!!" Hugo bursts. "What is that? And what do you mean fifth time? He does this more than once??"
"Huh, we must have gone back in time stepping into that rift."
