Hagrid met Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy at the Hogwarts front gates at five that afternoon. He saw them land together on a broomstick outside the gates, with Hermione riding behind Draco, her arms around his waist.

Hagrid thought it odd to see them both riding on the same broomstick, and odder that Hermione agreed to ride on one. He knew that the brunette witch was afraid of flying ever since she started at Hogwarts.

Hagrid's beetle black eyes also observed something about the two students who were walking towards him. He was used to observing animals and magical creatures, and humans act almost the same. There was something about them that made him curious. It was as if the Malfoy boy was showing something akin to care towards Hermione, which confused the half-giant.

He needs to talk to Hermione alone, he decided as he opened the gates for them.

"Good afternoon, Hagrid!" Hermione greeted him with a hug as usual.

"'Ermione," Hagrid greeted back, returning her hug. "Rode a broomstick to 'ogwarts, I see," he added, making Hermione blush.

"We needed to be back today so it was the only option," she replied to him, giving him a small smile. "Thanks for meeting us, Hagrid," she added.

"O' course," he replied with a smile. "Yer elf came earlier to bring both yer trunks," he said, turning at Draco's direction who was walking a few paces behind them. It surprised him to see the Malfoy's house-elf bringing Hermione's trunk as well.

Draco just nodded at him in response, he could sense that the groundskeeper was eyeing him weirdly. He was always been nervous around the half-giant, it seemed that Hagrid was more observant than anyone gave him credit for.

"Do yeh wan' a cup of tea on me hut, 'ermione?" Hagrid asked the witch walking beside him. "I miss yeh three going to me hut," he added.

Hermione looked at Draco for a second before replying, she knew they need to talk about their meeting with Professor McGonagall later. But it was only a little past five, so they still have time to talk later.

"Of course, I would love that, Hagrid," she responded with a smile. "How's Fang by the way?" She asked as they continued to walk towards the castle.

"Fang's still a coward," Hagrid replied laughing. Hermione laughed with him.

They continued walking on the grounds, Hermione and Hagrid talking about the creatures he is currently taking care of. Draco was just listening, knowing the half-giant still doesn't like nor trust him.

"Come now, 'ermione," Hagrid invited as they neared the way towards his hut.

"Give me a minute, Hagrid," Hermione answered, turning towards Draco.

Hagrid just nodded at her, and stopped walking.

"I'll just have some tea with Hagrid for a little while, I'll see you at dinner," she told the blonde wizard.

"I thought you had forgotten about me," he whispered, pulling her towards him. He saw Hagrid watching them intently. I'll give you something to see, he thought slyly.

"Of course not," she replied curtly. She was surprised when he gave her a peck on the lips before letting her go, making her blush madly. She knows that Hagrid saw it as she heard him grumble.

"I'll see you at dinner, Hermione," he said loud enough for Hagrid to hear. He then continued walking towards the castle, leaving Hermione with Hagrid.

Hermione and Hagrid proceeded walking towards his hut. Their walk was silent and Hermione knew just by looking at him that she needed to explain to Hagrid about her and Draco Malfoy.
