Deku's POV
"Wait Denki I'm sorry, I'll stop! " I call after him as he runs up the stairs.
"Leave me alone Izuku," he huffs but I continue after him.
"You never know when to give it a rest. You joke and joke and push and push!! It's irritating Izuku," he says reaching the top.
"But you are interested in him. What's wrong with me teasing you about it?" I question starting to catch up to the angry blonde.
"There isn't but you go on and on and on. You find a button and you can't help but push it until it fucking breaks," he storms down the hall to his bedroom. I'm close to catching up but he makes it into his room and slams the door in my face. I place my hand on the door knob only to be shocked senseless. I whimper like a hurt animal and run off holding my hand. Fuck I really made him mad. The pain from the electric shot consumes me. It's unbearable. I scramble down the hallway looking for an empty cell.
In a blind rage I tear the door from its hinges and rip the mattress to shreds. I yank the metal frame from the wall and throw it across the room. DAMMIT THAT FUCKING HURT!
When the pain finally subsides and my hand is healed, I'm left standing in the middle of a now recked room. My chest rising and falling rapidly. I did it again. Physical pain isn't something I cope with well. I can handle small amounts of it, but getting shocked by Denki is not a small amount of pain. I take a few deep breaths and try to center myself. After I'm calm, I clean up best I can and wonder back off to the lounge. I lean against the door way and watch a little bit of the festival. A girl with a creation quirk is fighting someone with a plant based quirk. She's losing pretty badly. I walk over and shut off the tv. The matches haven't been very interesting so there's no reason to keep watching. I turn around and begin to clean up. I take all the snacks to the kitchen and put them all away. Next I arrange the pillows on the couch nicely. It doesn't take me long and once I'm done I head for the front door. I pull out my phone and send Denki a quick text.
I'm going out, I'll be back tonight. I leave my phone on the stair case and walk out the door. The cool mid afternoon air sends small goosebumps up my arm. I take a deep breath and hold out my hands and make a wolf shaped shadow. It swirls and dances and before long I'm surround by 10 black wolves. They're tails wag back and forth, as always they're happy to see me.
"Let's go for a run yeah?" I say with enthusiasm. They get really excited. Jumping up and down and tackling each other. I chuckle a bit before taking off. I sprint as fast as I can deeper into the woods. The city is surround by a dense forest. I have thousands of miles of trees and mountainous terrain to run through. So I do just that. I run and run and run. My wolves only ever a few steps behind me. The game becoming more intense the longer it goes on. I can feel my adrenaline pumping as my wolves get closer. A smile spreads across my face. The feeling of the air rushing through my hair and past my face. How light I feel as I run. I jump off a small cliff and land with a roll. I'm not allowed the opportunity to continue running as my wolves all tackle me one by one. They lick and smother me out of excitement of winning the game.
"Ok ok that's enough," I giggle. I attempt to push them off but it doesn't work. In the midst of our fun I almost miss a familiar scent. A breeze passes over me and the scent of ash and firewood fills my nose.
"Disappear," I whisper. All my wolves melt around me and I'm left alone. The wind blows just right and I'm able to smell two different people. I stand and make my way in the direction of the smell. I realize that I'm near UA and a wicked smile crosses my features. I know I'm close when I can hear two people yelling at each other.
"Bakugo you can't go back. You'll probably see him again tomorrow so let's just go home and watch the festival,"
"HELL NO! I NEED TO KNOW WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED IN THE LAST GAME!"
I sneak closer until I can see them.
"Nobody is going to let you in that arena. Besides that you couldn't sneak in if you tried. The pros would stop you no problem," the red head tries to reason.
"I DONT CARE!" Bakugo shouts back.
"It's no use trying to reason with him. I'm afraid that poor Kacchan has always been quite bull headed," I say stepping out from the bushes. They both turn to me with shock. Kacchan takes a defensive step in front of the red head.
"We've never officially introduced ourselves have we? My names Deku, I'm Kacchans childhood friend," I say with a smile. The red head looks nervous.
"I-I'm Kirishima," he says unsure.
"I am sorry for breaking your arm. I was testing a theory of mine. The more you harden your skin the harder it becomes to move right?" I ask with a sparkle in my eye. Kirishimas eyes widen slightly but he doesn't answer.
"What are you doing here Deku?" Kacchan growls.
"Blowing off some steam," I answer with a shrug. "Don't worry, I'm not here to fight you or cause any trouble," I smile.
"Like hell I'd believe you," Bakugo says with his usual aggressiveness. I only shrug my shoulders.
"Your opinion hasn't mattered to me in a long time Kacchan,"
"If you don't mind me asking, why do you call him Kacchan?" Kirishima asks. He places a hand on said blondes shoulder. Kacchan relaxes slightly but not by much. A smile spreads across my face.
"That's the nickname I gave him when we were little. I combined his first name, Katsuki, and Chan to make Kacchan," I beam, thinking myself rather clever.
I look up to the darkening sky. The brilliant colors of sunset filling the horizon. Memories of my childhood play back in my mind.
"How wonderful those days were. Remember when we were really little, back before quirks even actually mattered to us. You were my best friend back then. It's too bad my quirk didn't manifest sooner, maybe we still would be friends," I reminisce sadly. My eyes still locked on the sky.
Despite my words, I don't feel any bit of nostalgia. I look to dear Kacchan to see his face down turned.
"If I had known that you would turn into....this ....then I never would have -"
"Don't be full of yourself Kacchan," I cut him off. "I am who I am because of my own choices. I walk the path I want to not the one I'm lead down. Besides could you imagine if I had become a hero? If I had stayed naive and tried to save the world?" I can't help but laugh thinking about it. "I mean honestly... I can't even picture it!!" I gasp out between laughs. The two just stand there shocked. Their mouths agape like fish.
"What the hell Deku!!!" Kacchan shouts in anger. An outburst that only fuels my laughter.
"I don't think you'll ever change," I say tauntingly. Kirishima's fist clench.
"Who says he needs to? From where I'm standing you're the one that needs to change, and you can start by turning yourself in for all the people you've killed," there Red head says mightily. Oh man this day keeps getting better and better.
"If the two of you can beat me, then I'll gladly turn myself in," I challenge. My voice threatening and my smirk wide. I've been itching for a fight. Bakugo's hand flickers with explosive sparks. Meanwhile Kirishima's face pales. His grip on Bakugos shoulder tightens.
"We can't beat him Bakugo. He's too strong for us right now,"
Without meaning to, Kirishima hit a sensitive nerve within Kacchan.
"How could you say that!! Of course we can beat him!!! How dare you give up-"
"IM NOT GIVING UP!!! Face the facts Bakugo, You, Todoroki, and I all faught him and we all lost. Hell he even kidnapped Todoroki! We can't beat him," Kirishima argues.
"How disappointing. Although I can't lie, I would have made the same choice. It's a smart decision. Well I'm off, don't want to keep the misses waiting," I wink and head back into the forest.
"This isn't over Deku!!" Kacchan shouts after me.
"I sure hope not dear friend, " I taunt back with a small wave, never turning to look at them. By now the last pieces of daylight are dying and night is setting in.
