Hey I'm sorry for all the technical difficulties with this chapter. I haven't had the best internet connections lately so wattpad was acting a little weird. Also this chapter is a little longer than normal but not much. Anyways I hope you enjoy reading :)
Todoroki's POV
"My feet huuuuurt," Eri complains. We've been walking for the past hour and a half or so. I didn't even know the forest was this big. I awe at all the tall trees and new terrain.
"Do you want me to carry you?" Deku asks. Eri give him an eager nod and he chuckles. He walks over and picks her up, placing her firmly on his shoulders and holding her ankles.
"I can see so much from up here," Eri calls excitedly. She holds her hand above her eyes to create a sawdow over her eyes.
"How far away are we?" I question?
"It'll probably be another hour before we get there," Deku says sheepishly. I didn't expect to travel so far today.
"What made you guys move so far away?"
"We needed to relocate. I don't like staying in one place for more than a few years but something tells me I'm gonna have to get over that soon," he says with a heavy sigh.
"What do you mean?" I question.
"Just feels like we'll be staying at the asylum. One of those gut feelings," he answers a little too seriously for my liking, so I drop the subject.
Eri hums happily while Deku stays alert. Two wolves in the front and two in the back. I think he might be a little paranoid. People don't typically come this deep into the forest out of fear of getting lost or preyed upon by wild animals. Maybe that's what he's worried about. Watching for any predators that could pose a threat. My thoughts are interrupted as I fumble over my own feet. Bracing the hit the ground I shut my eyes tight, my whole body relaxing to minimize pain, but the impact never comes. Instead, Deku is supporting my chest with his hands whilst Eri holds onto his head to keep from falling. Effectively blindfolding him in the process. He smiles cockily. What a boost to his ego this must've been. Catching me blindfolded.
"Distracted by your own thoughts?" He teases. Eri giggling wildly. Happy she didn't fall. I push myself off him lightly and regain my balance.
"Just thinking about the high alert," I answer referring to the wolves.
"Don't tell me you believe I'm the only villain who would take refuge in the forest? Even some heros will put their bases in the mountains. It's far from a creative place to hide out," he continues to tease. My cheeks burn lightly. It had never accrued to me how cliche the hideout in the forest was until now.
"Why do we live in the forest if it's not hidden?" Eri questions.
"Well who says we're not hidden?" Deku argues as he continues walking.
"If it's known that a lot of people hide in the forest, then they can't really be hidden," Eri reasons.
"Ah but knowing where you are and where to look are vastly different. For example, you know that to find a four leaf clover you have look in a feild of clovers, but you don't know where the four leaf clover is among all the other three leaf clovers," he explains simply.
"How big is the forest?" Eri asks.
"Huge. It borders most of the country. Although there are some beaches and ports so it's not a total border. Some of if it is so thick that it's dark even in the day light," Deku answers enthusiastically. I laugh watching them.
"How long have you been a Villain?" I ask rather out of blue.
"Mmmm, maybe about 2 years now," he answers unsure.
