Choi Misun
All eyes in the room were now on me as I made my entrance. My nerves almost got the best of me and I almost ran away but I have done this numerous times before. I knew how to behave in situations like these.
I need to be confident. Or at least seem as if I am that because confidence is the key here.
My steps were long, my whole body held in a straight line and my head held high as I stepped onto the wide balcony with two sets of stairs coming down from it.
The entrance for my royal family has always been kind of dramatic through the balcony. All the guests walked in through the wide doors on the side of the large room while we had to be special. As expected from the royal blood or from the nobles that are hosting the formal events. It's a casualty.
I stood by the edge of the bacony, smiling down at all the people that came to the ball. My smile was mostly genuine because I like to get to know people from time to time but I knew that there was going to be at least one noble man that is going to have some interesting words to say about me being a woman who is to take the throne and other interesting things surrounding that fact.
"You may now continue dancing." I said lightheartedly and the music began playing as if on cue. I am sure that the orchestra that my father has paid almost every time that we have these balls already knew the drill. I say this exact sentence all the time.
My feet lead me down the stairs, stepping on each stair carefully as I held onto the big railing so I wouldn't fall and made a fool of myself, until I finally made it down where all the people were.
I decided to walk over to my parents to properly greet them where they were seated on their thrones, giving both of them a deep bow to show my respects.
"Good evening, Misun. You look lovely." My father complimented me with a small smile on his face.
"Thank you, father." I showed him my gratitude by bowing once more and I looked down on my dress for tonight to make sure I had everything on right. I have already checked it few times just before I walked in so I wouldn't embarrass myself with that. "Am I allowed to have a glass of champagne as usual?" I asked both of my parents.
There weren't exactly rules about me not being able to consume alcohol but I was raised to have manners and I know that alcoholic drinks can make your mind think different kinds of things and say even worse. My father has told me numerous stories about him and his friends when they were a bit younger than they are now. They were all happy stories but I didn't want to risk anything since we have many guests here at these balls so I discussed this matter with my father one day and he said some glass is good to drink but do not drink everything. Especially not all at once.
"As usual, darling." My father gave me a nod and I thanked him. "Now, I think it would be for the best if you would walk around the room and waited for some young man to ask you for a dance, don't you think?" He suggested and there was no way for me to say no.
