Choi Misun
It has been four months since my father died and I became the queen. Four months of my reign.
There were many hardships on my journey. Many people didn't like the last proclaim of my father's. However, some were thrilled to hear about it since they were in love with a lower class or higher class person and this gave them the opportunity to be free with their love. Some of them thanked me and blessed my father when I drove into the town after my coronation. And after few weeks of couples of different classes marrying, people slowly stopped paying too much attention to who is from where.
Another hardship was dealing with father's funeral. It has taken us a week to prepare everything for his burial but he was now at peace in my family's tomb.
And another was Yoongi still missing.
I was slowly losing hope as each day passed. It breaks my heart less as each day he hasn't showed up. Every time I cried in my chamber, praying for his safe return. But I knew by now that he would have probably come back long ago if he was alive.
Changes were made in every aspect of my life. Suddenly I was the head of the country and they depended on me, I sat at the head of the table, organized small gatherings and mother wanted to move out of her chamber so I, as a ruler, could live there but I wouldn't change it for the world. There were too many memories for me to let my chamber go.
Duties fell on my shoulders. Some I have never even tried during the months my father was gone. Only for him to come back and go away once again.
Today I had audiences with my people.
People from all over the country traveled to ask for help while bringing a gift to my table, offering vegetables, meat of all kinds, herbs or perhaps even some bread.
During my first ever experience with audiences, I was tense, not knowing how to act during the situation. My mother stood by my side and whenever she saw me struggling, she immediately chimed in to help. Having someone experienced in this field was certainly a huge relief. I wasn't pressured to do this entirely on my own. Now I had everything under control.
Talking to families and individuals after one another, many of them coming here for help to their fields or homes which were damaged during the war. Some of those families had nothing left after soldiers passed through their homes and had to stay with their loyal friends.
I tried my best to accommodate them. Builders were sent to tens of families to help them repair their homes, few of the animals we had too many of have been distributed between them as well so they could have what it needs and of course few seeds as well, hoping for their fields to grow.
Today's audiences were no different to the previous ones. Families came and went, giving us something they still had in their possessions and now, after the last one walked away, I slightly slumped down in my seat when everyone was out of the room, including the guards who waited outside the entrance door.
