Chapter 7: Canary Cry

My team and I were out trying to catch another criminal, one who mysteriously had his old memories restored from the old multiverse. But then we were attacked by meta-humans, who wielded their powers in a way that none of us have ever seen before.

Rashid and I were fighting some of the criminals, then Laurel and Dinah blasted a few with their cries. I so wish I had that power but the only one who had inherited it was Dawoud, who had a really powerful cry and knew very well how to control it.

It was pretty badass and they sang like canaries, and if I had that power we would be like the power of three within the canaries.

I then grabbed one of my specialty arrows and the moment I shot it at the criminal still standing, the arrow split and tied the guy up from the torso, then from the legs, making any escape impossible.

"I think we got them all" Dinah said, with Laurel walking on tow.

"Yeah, we're done for the night, unless something else comes up" said Laurel.

"Something always does" said Rashid.

"Did you phone the police?" I asked.

"Yes" said Laurel. "Which means we need to be as far from here as possible."

"What about the metas?" I asked.

"The police have a handle on them" said Rashid. "I think it'll be fine."

"Good."

We arrived back to our base, exhausted and in definite need of a cheeseburger with fries from Big Belly Burger.

"Anyone want food? Gonna have some Big Belly Burger delivered" I asked.

"I'll take some fries" said Cisco. "And a chocolate shake."

"For sure" I said. "Anyone else?"

And everyone else was sitting down, not wanting anything to eat since everyone was exhausted from today's fight. Even Rashid had his head lying on one of the desks.

I walked over to shower and got dressed in my normal clothes. I hung my green arrow leather costume and hung my bow in a special closet with my arrows. I went to check on the cut I had on my left arm, which was done by one of the hostiles who almost sliced and diced me until Rashid shot him with an arrow, debilitating him.

Rashid walked in, holding a small black box.

"Hey" I said.

"Hey you, can we talk?"

"Sure. What's on your mind?"

"Just wanted to talk. How are you holding up with the revelation of you being related to me and Hamdan?"

"I don't know how to deal with it. Some days I'm shocked about it, other days I wonder if it's even plausible that I am related to a prince and a family of royals."

"All I can say is that you are related to the Al Maktoums, my family, and that by extension we are also brothers."

"So your Sakher, what was he like?"

He smiled, but the sadness in his eyes was still present.

"Let's see...he was smart, was good at fighting, and was brave. He was braver than I could ever be."

"Wow."

"He was kind of like you."

"But with different lives and different outlooks."
