All four of us walked toward it and as we walked in, we landed right in Dubai, or Dubai-X.
We landed in an alley and realized we had landed in the same area where my restaurant would have otherwise been located.
As we walked around, the Burj Khalifa had a scary-looking Swastika, the symbol of the Nazis, and had red lights all around and the skies were tinted with redness.
Even the Double Bolt S symbols were in certain areas and then a loud thump alerted us that we had to keep moving.
"So this crap hole is Earth-X?" I asked.
"Sadly, yes" said Rashid.
"Woah, I never imagined I would have ever stepped into another earth and certainly not one that's been ravaged by Nazis.
"We need to keep moving. We ain't here for any kind of sightseeing" I reminded.
"We better get moving" said Clark.
"Follow me, I'll take you to our base of operations" said Rashid.
Then we were cornered by some soldier, pointing his rifle at us.
"Hold it right there, undesirables!" he said through the voice filter from his retractable mask.
"Undesirables?!" I walked toward this bastard. "Racist much?!"
"We get rid of your kind!" he readied his rifle. "Back off before I shoot!"
"You're not shooting anyone!" I said, and the moment he was about to pull the trigger, I opened a breach and he started shooting and when he finished all his bullets, the breach opened behind him and the bullets hit him from behind.
He was more than down. He was dead.
"Whoa, that was quick thinking" said Khaled.
"It was a calculated risk but don't take them either!" I said.
"Let's go, quickly!" said Rashid and we walked and kept an eye on our surroundings.
We grabbed some Shmaghs and covered our faces so no one saw what we looked like.
As we walked around, the differences between this version of Dubai and the Prime version, were as clear as day and night. This place was not only depressing but it was ugly too. We heard gunshots from afar, people crying, yelling, and screaming. It was literally hell here, with nothing but misery and suffering.
We finally arrived at Rashid's base of operations. He did one knock, then whoever was behind gave two knocks, then Rashid gave three more knocks and the door opened.
It was Maryam and Futtaim, but their counterparts from this Earth.
They both embraced Rashid and we walked in.
Khaled and I took our Shmaghs off and the moment I took mine off, Futtaim and Maryam looked at me as if they had just seen a ghost.
Their eyes were glued to me and I realized why.
"Sakher?" Maryam began to cry.
"Yes, but I'm his Prime doppelganger."
Futtaim walked over to me, her eyes brimming with tears. She placed her palms over my face as if trying to somehow remember how my face felt.
She instantly hugged me and I hugged her in return, as I could only imagine the pain she was experiencing from having lost my counterpart. I did not have to ask if they were close because their reactions said it all.
