The night fell and Inkpaw woke herself with a jolt. The black and white apprentice looked around the apprentices' den, Spottedpaw and Olivepaw were curled up in their nests, Woodpaw was snoring in his nest. Inkpaw swiftly and quietly padded out of the den, carefully placing her paws as to not wake her denmates.
Fox-dung! She thought as she saw two of her clanmates, Perkyleaf and Hailbird. They must've been keeping guard for the night. She had to think fast, she was losing time. She launched a pebble across the ravine with her tail and ducked into a nearby bush. Inkpaw watched the two warriors dash to see where the pebble came from, once they passed the bush she was in she bolted to the camp entrance.
"It must've just been a hare knocking some pebbles in, we shouldn't worry too much." Inkpaw heard Perkyleaf mew. Hailbird and Perkyleaf began meowing, but their meows quickly fell silent as Inkpaw ran up and up the ramp to the outside world. "Don't worry, Inkpaw. You'll be fine." She comforted herself, mewing under her breath.
Inkpaw stifled a sigh, now where was she going to go? The glowing moon made the apprentice's pelt glow. Maybe I could go to the LightClan border. She thought, picking up her pace. Maybe she'd see Gullpaw or Dirtpaw? Hopefully Dirtpaw, he surely needs a real friend. Gullpaw just torments the poor apprentice. Maybe she could join LightClan to give him a real friend... She shook her head. No! What was Inkpaw thinking? GorgeClan was her home!
After scolding herself for a while, she was finally at the border. The wind whistled and howled as Inkpaw lingered, gingerly padding across the border. Her heart tugged her into the unfamiliar lands but she knew it was against the code to wander to another clan's territory.
She froze as she saw a familiar pelt. It was glowing in the moonlight, but why was he out so late? The tom noticed Inkpaw as he perked, his eyes sparking with interest. "Dirtpaw?"
