"daichi, you ready to go on?" takeda asked him

"yeah, i got this," daichi smiled

"that's the spirit! i'm proud of you, kid" takeda said

"thanks, takeda," daichi said before heading back in the dressing room.

if anyone was prepared for this situation, it was daichi. he told iwa and kyotani about the situation on amano, so he had them work on their part, dividing daichi's part between them. it worked well, they practiced at school together during a free period. this show was going to go great thanks to daichi just having a hunch.

"how you feeling, daichi?" suga asked, genuinely caring, not pulling a shita amano

"i'm feeling great," daichi smiled, "i think this show is going to go very well. iwa, how are you and kyotani feeling? i know y'all are doing great, but how are you feeling about it,"

"i'm feeling good, i think we're doing quite well," iwa told daichi, kyotani nodded in agreement, "did you know that ushijima and tendo are gonna be here tonight?"

"they're gonna be here tonight?" suga excitedly asked

"oh, did they not tell you? maybe tendo just told me," iwa checked his phone for clarification, "oh no, he wanted it to be a surprise, don't tell anyone and forget i told you,"

"thank you 15,"

"how do you make every costume so beautiful?" koshi asked admirably

"thank you," y/n smiled, "you're going to do amazing this weekend,"

"damn right i will,"

"you have done very well, sugawara," she joked about amano

"is it rude to say that i'm glad he got strep?"

"nah, he deserved it," she laughed, "how's daichi feeling?"

"great, actually. he knew this would happen so he worked on his blocking and songs and everything, and had the other two run songs without him. it's going to go great. daichi's a great leader, we're all so proud of him," suga smiled

"i bet,"

"i love you so much,"

"i love you too, koshi,"

"places,"

"thank you places," they all said quietly

everyone got into their positions for their entrance while suga stood center stage, a huge feeling of pride flushing over y/n

no one could see the crowd, iwa (and suga) was the only person who knew that tendo and ushijima were here

"ladies and gentlemen, welcome to tonight's aoba johsai/karasuno performance of seussical, please refrain from using your cellphones and flash photography, recording of any kind during the show is strictly prohibited. tonight, the role of mr. mayor will be played by daichi sawamura, and now, please enjoy karasuno's and seijoh's performance of seussical,"

a loud applause erupted from the crowd before the curtains opened, koshi quickly looked over at y/n as she gave him a thumbs up, the curtains opened, and the performance officially began.

it was a strong opening number, the audience was engaged, and there was a holler from the crowd that four of the cast members could almost immediately recognize. satori tendo was there and was cheering them on, and wakatoshi ushijima goes anywhere that tendo goes. this was going to be a great performance, nothing could stop them now.

"tendo? ushijima???" y/n took a double take since it wasn't confirmed that they showed up

"you were amazing, y/n!" tendo shouted and ran to give her a hug, and then everyone else

"good job, y/n,"

"that you, wakatoshi," she said, trying to match his energy

"okay, i can see why suga got jealous of you two," tendo told y/n and toru after their performance, "and suga! baby's first big high school role!," tendo was acting like a proud mother

"hey, i had some big roles first year,"

"oh, that's right, regardless, we're proud of you, all of you,"

"please come see our show," ushijima kindly asked

"we wouldn't miss it," iwa told him, "we just have to make sure that we have a ride because we hate public transportation,"

"oh yeah, because men are stupid," ushijima recalled y/n being hit on while on the city bus

"you guys ready for your performance?" y/n asked the shiratorizawa boys

"yeah, i think we're doing great," tendo answered, "how long did your daichi friend have to prepare for tonight?"

"oh he just found out this morning," suga answered

"holy shit," ushijima said

"well, shita amano was suga's understudy and we told you how that turned out," y/n added

"yeah, that was well deserved, i'm glad kyotani and i were able to pull that off without daichi," iwa sighed in relief

the weekend was incredibly fast, it was already their last performance. of course shoyo decided to come to the last show, the most emotional one. shota amano was unable to show up to any performance, serves him right.

there were no tears until bows, with y/n being a lead, she watched her upperclassmen bow from the wings, this was her last time performing with high school upperclassmen. she will be the upperclassman next year, it's scary, but it will be okay. she got to watch suga and oikawa bow, that's where the emotions hit, she will only perform with suga 3 more times and oikawa and iwa one more time.

the curtains closed as suga, iwa, oikawa, and y/n ran together for a group hug

"i'm so fucking proud of you all," iwa said, choking back tears

"we got one more, this isn't our last," y/n sadly smiled with a single tear rolling down her cheek

"yeah, we can hysterically sob next year," suga laughed, also crying

takeda called a karasuno meeting in the green room after the show, so their moment couldn't last forever

"before i announce theatre board officers, i would like to introduce you to our choreographer for our summer musical, keishin ukai, i did a lot of begging to get this guy so please be nice to him," takeda vaguely threatened, "anyway, tanaka will continue to be our publicist, our secretary is y/n l/n, vice president koshi sugawara, and president is daichi sawamura," applause erupted for all of them, they're going to make next year the best, "now go out there and talk to your friends,"

y/n immediately ran to shoyo

"damn, what took you so long?" shoyo asked while engulfing y/n in a hug

"we had a small meeting, and we were crying,"

"well, that just means you found a good group, i can't wait for next year," shoyo smiled
