Chapter Eighteen

Adele slipped off her bed after putting in yet another journal entry into her notebook. This was the best idea to write everything down, she could always go back and find out what she liked and who she didn't.

Now today was Evans turn, she didn't know what to expect from him. At times he looked sweet and caring but other days he looked like he was ready to murder someone in their sleep. She believed she could handle him though, she was tougher than most people thought.

She had no idea what he had planned so she curled her hair into loose waves, applied just a touch of makeup, and slipped into a simple gray dress. With her wedges on and a spritz of perfume she headed out of her room.

There he was, standing in a simple white t-shirt, a leather jacket, and some jeans. Well at least he wasn't all dressed up, she figured he had something simple planned. As she descended down the stairs with the clicking of her shoes Shawn's gaze met hers.

"Princess, right on time" he smiled holding out his hand to help her down the last few steps. She smiled secretly watching Evan as he shuffled on his feet. He didn't seem like the nervous type but he looked uncomfortable.

"Evan" she spoke up meeting his piercing blue eyes. He slowly took her hand planting a soft kiss on it. Adele giggled letting her arm drop to her side.

"Alright are you two ready?" Shawn asked watching the two of them nod. "I'll see you later princess, have fun"

Evan slowly wrapped his arm around her waist leading her out to the car. She did noticed he didn't say much, maybe he was shy. He opened the door as she slid in leaving enough room for him to move.

He helped her buckle her seat belt while he did his. Just as she set her hand down Evan swooped in and captured her fingers between his. She smiled taking a look at their joined hands sitting on the leather of the sheet.

"Where are we going Evan?" She asked when his eyes met hers.

"It's a surprise" he chuckled raising his hand with hers to plant a kiss on her skin.

Fifteen minutes passed with nothing but silence between the two of them. Adele just watched the fields pass by them while Evan did the same.

Finally the driver pulled up to a building but Adele couldn't tell what exactly it was. She trusted that the producers went over every detail of the date. Evan slid out holding the door open for her to get out.

He looped her arm through his as he led her through the doors and she was greeted with an arena filled with people. Everyone's eyes landed on her when she took in the scene and there in the middle of the room was an ice skating rink.

"It's ice skating Adele" Evan chuckled dragging her along to the shoe exchange.

Seriously she didn't know all of this existed in her country, she must have been to busy in her own life to notice any of this. Evan sat her down on one of the couches and slipped off her wedges.

He put little socks on her feet before tying up the laces on the skates. She was pretty nervous since she only skated one time with her brother and all he did was push her. Evan finished with her skates and did the same to his skates.

Adele stood up balancing on the blades while Evan caught her just in time before she fell backwards. He chuckled steadying her by keeping a tight grip on her waist. She did notice he didn't talk much.

Evan stood up with ease walking over to the rink with no issues at all, he carefully led her to the railing. "Come on" he gestured lightly pulling on her. Adele nodded putting one foot on the ice before it slipped right out from under her and she landed on the carpet.

She groaned burying her face in her knees and she knew Evan was trying not to laugh. "You alright?" He asked scooping his arms around her to stand her up. Adele nodded using him for support to balance herself.

"You've never done this before have you?" Evan said inches from her face since he was basically standing her up. She shook her head resting her chin on his shoulder to keep up. "Come on, I've got you" he whispered slowly skating back to get her on the ice.

Adele watched the mass of people move away as they entered the rink. She was trying so hard not to focus on them but on this date and whether she saw a future with Evan. All she noticed about him was that he was quiet.

Evan shuffled on his feet causing them to slowly move around the ice as Adele hung on to him like her life depended on it. She slowly lifted up her head for him to press his cheek against hers. Adele smiled taking in the warmth of a hug.

He kept his arms tight around her when they slid from one side to the other. Again he stayed quiet but she was kind of used to it by now. She just listened to the music and his breathing when they skated. She felt like old friends with him even though they only spent this much time together.

Evan also didn't seem like the adventurous type either, he seemed very calm and collected with no wild streak to him. Adele noticed the feel of his leather jacket and the little stubbles of hair on his cheek.

He slid backwards as Adele hung onto him to keep her steady. Evan chuckled feeling her breathing hitch when he went a little faster. Adele rested her chin on his shoulder just enjoying the moment.

No one was in the rink except for her and Evan, the entire place was watching them. She didn't blame them though, a princess doesn't usually come to hang outs like this but she liked feeling normal. She was sure some had their phones out recording them but what was the difference?

They had at least five cameras watching them to get the date from every angle. Adele rested her head deep into the curve of his neck blocking everyone in the room out. She noticed the way he smelled and the way he felt, just content with him leading her on the ice.

"Princess" she heard Shawn call out and she knew their date was over. Adele lifted up her head and nodded towards him while Evan helped her out of the rink.

He gently sat her down on one of the seats to unlace the ice stakes and slip on her wedges. Adele noticed while he was kneeling in front of her the way he hair shone in the light, the way his eyes twinkled and his face looked so calm.

She reached down combing her fingers through his hair while a small smile inched across his lips. Maybe he was too shy to make the first move, maybe he was too respectful for that. After putting on both of her shoes Evan took her hand in his placing it on his chest.

He took a strand of hair tucked it behind her ear and slowly leaned in for the kiss. Adele didn't hesitate pressing her lips to his, he was so warm and gentle that she didn't want to leave. Evan cupped the side of her cheek running his fingers into her hair.

Adele pulled away slightly to rest her forehead against his. "You look beautiful" Evan whispered to her while she smiled.

Shawn cleared his throat which was her cue to go. "Thank you for tonight Evan, I enjoyed it" she whispered back.

"As did I" he smiled pulling away so she could look into his piercing blue eyes. "Goodnight Adele"

"Goodnight Evan" she said before he helped her up.

Adele walked over to Shawn as she looped her arm with his. They headed out to the limo so she could slid into the seat. This was going to be a very tough adventure for her.
