John remembers that day very clearly. The first time he met the princess. It was his fifth week of boot camp. His group was called to line up to be introduced to her.
The drill sergeant gave his group proper etiquette on how to greet the princess. She stepped out of the jeep in a white blouse, brown jeans, and combat boots. Her gorgeous hair knitted up in a loose braid, even then she looked breathtaking.
He had seen pictures and videos of her but never in person. Seeing her smile while talking to the military advisor was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. She walked forward to where the men were standing.
Giving us a small bow, all the soldiers returned the gesture. The military advisor introduced each one of them to her. "Princess Adele, this is John" was all John heard him say as she reached out her hand.
"Pleasure to meet you John" she smiled, her eyes meeting his. He quickly shook her hand and went back into formation as she greeted the other soldiers.
"Give me a mile!" the drill sergeant yelled and the group began running.
Adele turned to Paul and the drill sergeant. "So you say John is a prospect for the royal military advisor?" she questioned them as she watched him run.
"Yes princess, he is very compassionate. Always thinking of others. His scores are much higher than anyone else here. He is unique from all the other soldiers, I think you'll love him"
She glanced around the camp. Men were busy training, she smiled at the thought of these brave people willing to risk their lives. Her eyes locked back on John leading the group.
They lined up in front of her again, out of breath. "Come on, all of you are taking a break" she smiled so sweetly as she began walking into their cabin.
"Princess, these men need to train!" the drill sergeant called after her.
"They have been working hard, you say this is their fifth week correct?" she pushed through the guys focusing on the drill sergeant. He nodded with his head down, "Let them rest! My goodness! They are humans, not machines!" she yelled with authority.
He shook his head in defeat. The princess' main involvement was with the military so she had the final say in things. All the guys stared at her in shock, it was obvious some were star struck by her presence.
Once they got inside she inspected the area. Not so much to see if they kept it cleaned but if the men had enough supplies. Content with the condition of it she sat down on one of the cots.
Adele asked them to come sit around her. One things she loved doing was talking to these young men. Even though many were older then her they all treated her with high respect.
She asked each one of them about their families, lives back home, what inspired them to join the military. John watched her in fascination. Her heart was with these men.
She was so compassionate, so caring, and so loving. She genuinely cared about the guys here. His heart skipped a beat when she smiled or laughed.
He was certain almost every guy in the room felt that way. Adele was stunning, her eyes were mesmerizing and beautiful pink lips that were always pulled up into a smile.
She spent the afternoon with them, learning about their lives. Soon the bell went off for dinner. The men excused themselves as she gathered up her things.
John was the last to walk out, he stopped when he heard her call him. "Did you call me princess?" he peeked his head through the door.
"Yes John please come sit" she smiled gently patting the cot. He calmed his nerves as she watched him make his way over and sit.
"What can I do for you miss?" he politely asked staring at her face which seemed to be glowing.
"John, I-" she glanced down at his hand that had a huge gash in it. Concerned she lifted his hand up on her lap to look at it. "What happened to your hand?" she asked running her small fingers over it.
"Oh it's a long story" he replied scratching the back of his neck, "It's almost healed up" John was getting more and more nervous by the second. He felt his cheeks heat up as her soft fingers traced his hand.
"Alright good" she said, still not convinced "Anyways I wanted to ask if you would like to try out for the assistant royal military advisor. Paul thinks you are perfect for the position" Adele spoke up, leaving her hand on top of his.
"Me? You want me to be the guy for it?"
"Yes, I've been watching you throughout your training. I have a feeling you'll be great at it"
"It would be my honor princess"
