Chapter Seven
Adele woke up rubbing her eyes already feeling dreadful about today. Today started the first dates of the men, something she was not looking forward to. She pushed herself out of bed to get cleaned up and ready once again for this.
To be honest she was okay with todays date, Damien. She couldn't explain why but she was drawn to him. He seemed like a sweet guy so she was a tiny bit excited. She hurried up to get ready as the men went over the rules of how this should work.
All the men sat down around the living room as the host of the show, Shawn, went over the basics with them. This show was going on national television starring the princess of this country and nothing was going to screw it up. They all scattered around waiting for the man in the suit to begin talking.
"Now the princess has made a list of rules for you guys. I'm not going to tell you what's regulated and her ideas but you need to follow every single one of them. Number one, nothing goes past kissing. We will not have you knock up the princess on national television got it?" Shawn asked as the guys groaned.
"That's the best part though" Owen whined earning a glare from Bill, Adele's butler.
Shawn rolled his eyes continuing with the list. "Number two, no nicknames. You cannot call the princess names like you would your everyday girlfriend"
"So love and sweetheart would be out of the question?" Evan spoke up carefully observing everything.
"No nicknames. Number three, this is a big one. No one is allowed in Princess Adele's room or dressing room. Unless she personally brings you in do not go in. That's one rule you cannot forget" they all nodded as Shawn looked down at the list. "Number four, you cannot contact anyone outside of this list. I will give you each one before you leave"
"What exactly will this be for?" Damien asked knowing that question was on everyone's minds.
"This list consists of everyone and everything you'll need to plan dates for you and the princess. There are bakers, florists, movie channels, whatever you need to make each date perfect. If you don't see what you are looking for, ask me or Bill"
The men nodded as Shawn continued, "Number five, you cannot say anything about how your relationship with Princess Adele is going to any of your family members or friends. When you signed up for this you gave up your family for three months, sadly you cannot speak to them or see them until Adele is alright with it or she sends you home"
"My sister is going to have a baby soon, I can't be there for that?" Charlie asked locking eyes with Shawn.
"I'm sorry Charlie but you signed up for it. Alright guys now let's get to how this whole process works" he said sitting down on the table to relax a bit. "We have made a pattern on who will take the princess out when. "One man will take her out during the day and then another will take her out for the night"
"Is this starting today?" Dylan piped up glancing at all the guys.
"Yes, Damien for the day and John for the night. We will hand out the schedules as well. Anyways, there will also be challenges in the middle of each week that you will be prepared for. The princess will obviously judge and reward the winner with an unexpected prize."
"So like how can do the most push ups?" John laughed trying to ease up the tension.
"Yeah sure" Shawn rolled his eyes, "At the end of every week the princess will meet with all of you to choose one to go home. Make sure you dress your best, it shows respect. When she calls your name and places a crown on your head, it means she's wanting to continue the relationship. If you are the only one left standing without a crown you are sent home"
The guys nodded carefully paying attention to everything Shawn was saying. Most truly wanted to get to know Adele and start a relationship but others just wanted the fame and title of king.
Adele slipped on her polka dot blouse and magenta skirt along with her black heels. She had little makeup on to compliment her straight locks. A few pieces of jewelry and she secured the door behind her.
The clinking of heels heard throughout the halls let everyone know she was coming. She took the stairs down to the living room where all the men sat discussing the rules. Hopefully they were all finished, she wasn't sure how long something like this took.
Once she descended down the stairs she smiled seeing all the men gathering around her living room. It was such a weird scene to her, she was used to being by herself maybe having her parents here but never this many people. The maids, cooks, and gardeners always stayed out of her way.
All at the same time the men stood up to greet her. Sadly she was still having issues remembering their names. Shawn walked up to her holding out his arm for her to grab. She linked her arm in his as he led her to stand in front of all the men.
"Good morning princess" Shawn smiled securely keeping her by his side. Shawn's job was to host the show, make sure things went smoothly, see how she was feeling about everything, and protect her if anything should happen.
"Good morning Shawn, gentlemen" she smiled back as each one of the men greeted her.
"They are all up to date princess, I went over all the rules with them. Also the consequences of disobeying"
"Oh good" she smiled seeing the true smiles on some of the men's faces as well as the fake ones. Having to work with people her whole life Adele had developed a good skill on reading people.
"Would you like to tell them the challenge for this week?"
"Yes, this week we will be hosting a talent show in the ballroom. I do expect all of you to participate. You can do whatever you feel is your best skill or hobby. It's in a few days so you have some time to prepare. I look forward to seeing what you guys come up with"
"Alright guys, you heard the princess. A talent show in the ballroom. Now for today, Adele you will be going out with Damien for the day and John will be taking you out tonight" Adele nodded still securely hanging on to Shawn. Right now he seemed like the only one she could trust through all of this. "Damien?"
Damien cleared his throat approaching Adele with a smile. "Yes of course, shall we?" she smiled taking his hand in hers as they walked out with the film crew right behind them.
