Chapter 22

Adele continued listening to her music while she curled her hair getting ready for her next date with Charlie. This one she was excited for, Charlie was one of the top contenders. Charlie told her to dress casual but she wanted to look decent for him, a guy that she actually wanted to get dressed up for. She turned off the curling iron noticing the time so she had to get dressed fast. She pulled out her jeans, striped top, and leather jacket to throw on. Tying up her sneakers she locked her door and began her descent down the stairs.

As always Shawn was standing at the bottom waiting for her along with Charlie. Charlie looked amazing wearing a green button up shirt and jeans. Adele smiled meeting eyes with Charlie while he held out his hand for her to take. She placed her hand in his while her palm was met with a sweet kiss.

"Good afternoon princess" Charlie smiled placing one more little kiss on her wrist. "Are you ready?"

Adele nodded as Charlie helped her down the last few stairs. He led her out into the warm summer evening air. She loved the warm breeze on her skin especially summer time. Charlie opened the door for her as she slid into the car making room for him. He closed the door while the driver started the car and began driving to their destination.

Charlie slid over kissing Adele's cheek causing her to giggle, then he moved to her ear which caused her to laugh more. She grabbed a hold of his hand loving the warmth she got from it. Suddenly the car came to a stop as Adele looked out the window, they were at the park. She let herself out and walked out onto the grass while Charlie offered her his hand.

She followed him to the trunk of the car while he pulled out a picnic basket and a blanket. Once they got over the hill Adele noticed a stage in the middle of the park where people were setting up instruments. She gave Charlie a look of confusion but he waved her towards the spot he had set up.

A couple hundred feet away from the stage where tons of people were gathering around them. She felt the stares of the others but she tried to ignore them to enjoy the date with Charlie. One family in particular would not stop staring at Adele, including the little girl who seemed to be around six years in age.

Adele saw the little girl look at her then tug on her mothers blouse. It must seem weird to see the princess out in a park where everyone else is. She had security surrounding her so it was obvious someone important was there.

"Adele, you alright?" Charlie asked causing Adele to stop observing her surroundings.

"Yes" she smiled lifting her eyes into his brown ones. Charlie didn't seem convinced as he raised his one eyebrow making Adele laugh. "There's this little girl that keeps looking in our direction, I'm debating if I should go to talk to her."

"You can go if you want Princess" Charlie said looking in the direction of the same family. "It is your duty as the princess to talk to the people."

"You're right" Adele nodded getting up and straightening out her skirt. The security team immediately surrounded her while she made her way over to the family. She noticed them putting everything together as the little girl blushed a deep pink color.

Charlie trailed behind her asking the security guards to hold their place on the grass field. The mother of the family got the two boys attention as well as her husband's for them to straighten up. Adele approached the family with a smile to show she wasn't intending of doing anything drastic to them for staring.

"Princess Adele, its an honor to meet you" the older woman spoke up bowing her head to acknowledge Adele's royal status. Adele smiled giving her hand out to shake. "My name is Monica and this is my husband Richard."

"It's nice to meet you" Adele said as Richard gave her a head nod and a small kiss on her hand, customary of people meeting royalty. "What's your names?" She squat down to get level with the children sitting on the blanket.

"Jessica" the little girl spoke up, blushing a little more than what she was before. "Tom and Phillip are my brothers."

"Those are very nice names" Adele smiled causing the little girl to smile. "Who is oldest?" she asked watching the boy next to Jessica point at himself. She laughed paying close attention to the parents who seemed to be afraid their children would say something rude to her. "How would you like to see the castle?"

Jessica nodded very eagerly looking at her parents, "Princess Adele, that's a very generous offer" Monica spoke up motioning for Jessica to calm down. "Thank you"

"Well I have to get back to my date but here Jessica" she removed the bracelet from her wrist and had Jessica hold out her wrist. "I want you to have this."

Jessica had the biggest smile on her face while she admired the bracelet. "Thank you Princess Adele." Adele smiled and laughed when Jessica crashed into her. "It's so sparkly!"

Adele gave Jessica a hug before standing up and walking back over to Charlie. Charlie had the biggest smile on his face which Adele could not understand. He had their entire meal laid out on the blanket which made Adele feel bad for taking time out of her date to go see that family. Charlie handed her a bowl of grapes while the music started.

As one band played a few songs, another band would come up onto the stage after them. It sounded a little bit like jazz and classical bands. Adele was really enjoying the music and occasionally Charlie would feed her causing her to laugh. Charlie really was sweet and Adele loved his company.

After the meal Charlie let Adele sit between his legs while night fell on the park. The only lights in the park where the ones lighting up the stage. Charlie would kiss the top of her head causing her to smile and feel so content with where she was. She still couldn't believe how comfortable she felt with him, it was almost like she knew him her whole life.

Adele leaned her head up to take in every part of his face, he was really handsome. As far as she could tell he acted and looked like someone who could be the king to rule with her. Charlie put down his eyes to meet hers and lightly pressed his lips to hers. She smiled responding to the kiss placing her hand on his cheek feeling the small stubble on his chin.

Charlie scooted her closer to him as she felt the warmth surround her. She was content with him and nothing was in her mind except this wonderful man who was trying to win her hand in marriage. Adele turned herself around to watch the next band play while Charlie wrapped his arms around her. Another perfect date with Charlie...
