THUMP, THUMP
THUMP, THUMP
It was the most prominent sound that filled the air in Emori's dark cell. The war drums and the muffled yelling were so loud she had nothing else to focus on. She had been chained in an underground cell with four guards stationed right outside.
There's a compliment in there somewhere.
Had it not been for the fact that her legs were chained as well as her hands she probably would have been pacing in her cell. She was worried about Cato and she was tired of being held in this place. She had been sitting and thinking about Lincoln and how she had left him behind. She knew he was extremely angry for the way she left, but she didn't really have a choice. They were ready to put their lives on the line to protect her, and she did not need to be worried about them when she needed to save Cato. She was really worried about him and she could only grimace at the thought of what delfikru have done with him simply for knowing her.
There was a sudden bang followed by murmured voices as she heard a group of footsteps and more Delfikru warriors walking towards her cell. They parted all standing at the ends of the wall and revealing the face of none other than Onto.
"Emori. It's nice to finally see you again" Onto smiled softly but Emori's glare only hardened. "Of course, you'd still be here" she muttered as she glanced behind him at the other guards, who she noticed were all intently listening to them.
"Well my mother couldn't rule alone" he stated and Emori shook her head and kept her mouth shut. Silence was the better option when it came to Delfikru.
Onto turned to the other guards and told them to leave them alone and Emori raised an eyebrow as she watched all of them leave the room silently. The tall blonde haired boy opened the door and moved towards Emori who was just looking at him with an empty stare, no emotion at all. He remembered this of her, the way she would hide everything she was feeling quickly, she had gotten quite good at it.
"So you've brought yourself to us for a simple boy. I didn't even think it would have worked with Cato. Probably Lincoln, he would have been my first choice" Onto smirked and Emori lunged at him but didn't get anywhere because of the chains.
"Onto let's not rile up our guest" another voice stated from behind him and Emori turned to look at Olina staring at both of them with the same smirk plastered on her face. "So you are the great Warrior of Blood" Olina stated and moved further into the cell as Emori just looked at her.
"Right well I believe these belong to you," Olina said and motioned to the other guards who brought in Bellamy, Lincoln, and Octavia all tied up. Octavia was fighting against the guard who brought her in and was successful in landing a kick to his knee which knocked him down for a second but another guard intervened and smacked Octavia across the face, knocking her back.
"Stop" Emori shouted as Olina just watched her reaction with a pleased look. She knew that Emori would do anything for the people she cared about that was obvious the moment she gave herself up to save Cato. "My these next few years will be thrilling. Tie them up with her" Olina said and moved to leave the cell.
Emori began fighting against her chains as she realized what that meant. "No, you wanted me, you have me, let them go. They have nothing to do with this" she shouted after Olina who ignored her pleas and left.
"I'll see you soon" Onto smirked and followed after his mother as Emori continued to fight against her restraints.
As the guards all followed behind Onto leaving the group of four in the dimly lit cave, Emori turned to look at Octavia, whose lip had split and was slightly bleeding.
"Are you ok?" the brunette warrior asked her, only to receive a soft nod as a response. "You were supposed to be far behind me" Emori stated as she turned to look at Lincoln and only glanced at Bellamy.
"I guess you forgot about the shortcut" Lincoln muttered and Emori sighed as she remembered it. It had been a while since she had ever taken the shortcut to Delfikru and to be honest it was quicker to meet your end on that path than to actually arrive at Delfikru. That's why she didn't think Lincoln would even consider taking that path with Octavia.
"Guess you both are lucky Lincoln has crossed that path many times or you'd be dead" she grumbled out.
"Why did you leave us behind" Bellamy suddenly questioned, which only thickened the already building silence. "You were supposed to let us help you" Bellamy continued once he realized Emori wasn't going to answer.
"I was trying to protect you," Emori said sternly as she looked at Bellamy and then at her best friend and second, "all of you".
"We don't need your protection Em. We need you to not give up. You decided to stop fighting when the people that love you need you. That is not what a warrior does. You don't want to be the Warrior of Blood then don't be. Be your own kind of fighter. You told me that you were a warrior in the mountain. Warriors fight Emori. You need to fight" Octavia rambled out. It was like everything she had kept bottled in just completely blew out of her. Emori was the first Trikru soldier besides Lincoln that believed in her and she knew that Emori's heart was true and that no matter what she had done in the past she deserves to forgive herself and live another day. IF not for them for herself.
"You deserve to prove to yourself that you can be just as strong without the Warrior of Blood" Octavia finally muttered sternly as she spoke Emori's native tongue. Emori looked at her. She really looked at her. Octavia had changed so much since the first time she met her. She had found her place among trikru and no matter what Emori thought in that split second she was ready to fight, ready to prove to herself she was not just a murderer.
Emori parted her lips to speak but her words got caught in her throat as the war drums grew louder along with the screams of the delfikru soldiers. The long bang from earlier reverberated in the cell and Onto appeared once more. "It's time" he smirked as the guards all came rushing in to grab them.
The foursome were all taken out of the cell and dragged up the stairs towards the shouting. Octavia fought against the guard but stopped when Emori called out to her. Emori walked calmly towards the shouting as she spoke to Octavia, "don't fight and they won't hurt you" she said and Octavia only watched her calm demeanor. It seemed her words had not gotten through to the brunette at all and she clenched her jaw as she glared forward, her eyes trained on Emori's back.
It wasn't dark outside but the sun was beginning to set. As soon as Emori stepped out the shouting got louder, but Emori ignored them as she noticed Cato kneeling on the ground near Olina, who was sitting on her throne her gaze focused on her people and a small smirk playing at her lips.
They were all lined up in the center of the crowd that had formed to watch the torture begin. Emori was between Lincoln and Bellamy and she only felt her heart ache as she watched Cato slumped on the ground. She noticed the cuts along his body, his bruised and bloody face, but worst of all was the brand of a Delfikru prisoner seared onto his chest. Claiming that he was property of the clan. She knew that mark would stay with him forever, and the guilt only tore at her insides. Her whole body becoming numb at the sight of her friend. This was because of her, she had caused this all.
