The next morning Emori awoke to an empty bed, and when the memory of the night before came rushing back to her everything seemed to slowly fall apart. She slept with her Heda. Someone who she's supposed to obey and protect not fool around with. Emori quickly stood from the bed and got dressed as quietly as possible. She needed to get out of the room before anyone saw her.
She made her way out of the tower and walked towards the woods. She planned to meet up with Lincoln at his cave in order to speak to him about the sky people and whether the new falling star carried more of them. She walked for an hour until she finally reached the cave and walked in to see Lincoln sitting down at the cave drawing in his journal. She peeked over his shoulder to see the image of a beautiful girl. "She's pretty" she spoke up frightening Lincoln, who only glared at her. "How do you always do that" he said and Emori shrugged. "I'm just that good" she smiled and he rolled his eyes.
"So any news" Emori said as she began to touch all the things he had in his cave. Lincoln nodded and began to tell Emori everything that has happened with the sky people.
By the time the pair were done talking it had become night fall and Emori needed to get back to Polis before anyone worried too much. "I'll walk you" Lincoln smiled and Emori nodded thankfully.
They both began their trek to polis when Emori heard light groaning from somewhere nearby. She turned to Lincoln who had squatted a little completely aware of the noise. They followed the sounds to see a girl at the bottom of cliff. It looked like she had fallen and there was a large gash on her leg. The brunette turned to her left to see the two grounders staring down at her in confusion.
In seconds the girl passed out again at the sight of them and Emori turned to Lincoln. "That's the girl isn't it," she asked and Lincoln only nodded as he picked her up and began to walk back towards the cave. Emori followed after him when a sudden light appeared above in the sky. It was streaks of purple and pink lights that were headed towards the East. Emori watched as the ball of fire would shoot up into the sky and come back down again. "The East village" she whispered in horror as she could see the light of fire engulfing some trees in the distance. "Run" Lincoln told her as equally astonished and horrified as her.
Emori did just that and ran towards the village hoping to save everyone in the village. By the time she arrived however, everything was on fire. Horses ran off with fire licking at their backs. People were engulfed in flames running towards the woods with deafening screams echoing from their lips. Emori sprang to action once she spotted a blanket on the ground; she covered the nearest man to her with the blanket and tried to pat the flames away. She laid the man down on the ground and tried to help put off the fire for other people that were running. She heard the sounds of horses galloping and saw Anya and Lexa staring at the scene in horror. "Water we need water" Emori yelled as people just stared at the damage knowing completely well that nothing could stop the fire now. "Lexa" Emori yelled as Lexa's gaze shifted to her and gave her a soft shake. There was nothing they could do.
Emori turned back to the fire as it began to grow and her face only hardened. She knew exactly who had done this. The sky people have just declared war.
