Emori gasped in a breath as everything spun around her. She could feel the damp earth beneath her hand as she kneeled on the ground gasping for the air that Onto had just knocked out of her. She focused her blurry vision on Onto's frame, advancing towards her with his sword, and spun to the right to dodge his attack. Onto grunted as he lifted his sword and stalked towards Emori, his foot connected with Emori's frame knocking her onto her back. Emori rolled over as Onto tried to kick her once more, and since she knew he would try again she took that as her opportunity to kick Onto on his leg. Then as fast as she could in her still dizzy state, she punched him hard in the face, knocking Onto back and taking the chance to get back up on her feet.

Onto was only stunned momentarily and he was hot on Emori's heels as he also stood up and swung his sword at her. Emori turned to block the attack and soon they were back at square one. They were facing each other while swinging and dodging each other's attacks.

Emori and Onto had been fighting for 10 minutes now. Every time one had gotten the upper hand the other would get an advantage again, and they would go back to swinging their swords and dodging each other's attacks. It was clear to everyone that they were equally matched. Lincoln had been hoping Emori was paying close attention to Onto and how he fought, it seemed he had created a loop that he would switch consistently but still in pattern. He would swing his sword twice, then get close enough to punch and disorient, and then he would start a new pattern. He would swing 3 times and swipe at Emori's legs to get her on the ground. He would switch consistently with these two patterns. Pattern 1 would go twice and then pattern 2. It was as if Onto was trying to tire Emori out enough to be able to knock her down on the ground and get the advantage he needed to kill her.

Emori at first was mainly focused on the offense and was trying to get her own hits in, but it seemed that after the second time she was knocked on the ground she had begun to see the pattern, but she was still fighting the offense and not the defense. This is what Lincoln feared, that Emori would be too consumed with getting Onto down only tiring herself out when she just needed to tire him out first.

Onto and Emori were now circling each other, watching the other's bruised faces. None of them had been able to cut the other yet and it was beginning to feel like the fight would not be moving anywhere and Olina herself was getting tired of watching them play cat and mouse.

Onto glanced at his mother to see her stone-hard glare demanding he does some damage that could move this all along. Onto nodded determinedly and decided to switch things up, for he too knew that Emori had realized his pattern. He decided he would do things differently, so when Emori swung her sword at Onto, instead of dodging, he let Emori hit his arm pad that protected him from being cut. Then he swung his sword leaving a space open for Emori to take her other hand and send a fist towards his ribs.
