Steve listened to that message over and over again, just to keep listening to her voice. He thought he was over her, he was seeing Sharon now, but he just couldn't get her out of his mind.

B: Hey Steve, we're going to a mission, explore and abandoned Wearhouse that could have been used by those hydra soldiers that scaped a few months ago. Wanna tag along?

S: Yeah sure, be right there.

Sam: Great, we'll meet here in 15min.

On the jet.

B: Hey man, I wanted to talk to you about something.

S: What's up?

B: Ok, we have like three hours before reaching our destination, so I'm going to tell you something I wanted to tell you for a while, but you have to promise you won't interrupt me until I finish.

S: Ok, I can do that

B: Ok, just hear me out. After I first became the winter soldier, I started working for this general from hydra. The thing is, he needed a job done, a job I couldn't do. He needed to kill a men that was very hard too kill, that had contact with almost no one outside of his inner circle, so the general wanted to use a girl, to seduce him, and kill him. so he joined forces with the red room

S: Wh...

B: Let me finish, questions later. Ok so the problem is, Ivan, the guy that was kind of "running" the red room at the time, wouldn't just borrow one of his assassins for free, so the general made a deal. Ivan would borrow his best student, and in return I would work there as an instructor for the girls for a few months. The girl was Natasha. She killed the target, and in return I became her instructor.

S: you knew her from before?

B: Yeah, but there is more. At the time, Natalia was going through a loss, a big one, and we started to get closer. In the beginning it was only friendship, a escape from all of that. Sometimes we would run away to a tiny abandoned apartment nearby, drink vodka and just talk about life. We always had to return before they realized but it was the best moments of my time there. 

Uhm, well, the thing is, at some point, it evolute to something more, and we started kind of dating. You need to understand here that we were more friends than anything else. We both needed someone and found comfort in each other. Talia wanted to tell you after I got back, but I said no because I knew you had feelings for her and I didn't want you to be mad at me.

S: You dated her years ago, knew I liked her, and hid it from me? Did you hurt her?

B: What?

S: You said you were still the Winter Soldier. Answer the question, did you hurt her? Because I swear to god-

B: No Steve, I didn't hurt her, I loved her. We ended up realizing we didn't love each other on the romantic way, but as friends. But even though we realized we were not going to work as a couple, I loved her as a friend, and would do anything to protect her.

S: Do you still love her?

B: As a friend, but yes. But I don't feel anything romantical for her Steve, its purely platonic.

S: Okay..? -There is a pause, Steve is processing everything when he remembers something- She was the girl from your memories, wasn't she? The memories Wanda accessed that time we were playing truth or dare with Yelena, the one where you were drinking Russian vodka and laughing with a girl.

B: Yeah, she was.

He doesn't say anything

B: Steve, are you ok? Are we ok?

S: Yeah, no I'm fine, just processing... Thanks for telling me

B: I'm sorry it took me so long.

S: It's okay. And I don't love the idea you used to date her but I'm glad she had you. It must have been hard for her there; it is good she had someone.

B: Yeah, it was. Thanks for understanding... But there's something else, something I don't think you will

S: What are you talking about?

B: I may have done something...

S: What did you do?

B: I, well, I kind of found her...

S: You knew were she was this whole time?

B: NOO, no, of course not. I just found out last week, and I might have gone to talk to her.

S: WHAT??

B: She's in Russia. I went to talk to her. Steve, you are not going to want to hear this, but she still cares a lot for you, and I know you think she turned you down, but I'm telling you, I've known Natalia for years now and I'm pretty sure she has feelings for you too.

S: Don't, Bucky, just please don't. I don't need false hopes right now. She left, I'm with Sharon. Whatever she did or didn't feel, now is too late, it doesn't matter anymore.

B: But-

S: Drop it Bucky, I'm serious.

B: Fine, but I still don't think Sharon is good to you like Nat was.

Neither of them say anything after that. Sam is oblivious, he wasn't around when they talked and has no idea what's going on. The jet finally lands.

They go in the base, that was supposed to be inactive. Sam uses his glasses to see if there is anyone inside, but it seems to be empty, so they go in, not prepared to fight. What they didn't expect was that the room was filled with easily 100 armed soldiers. Bucky was able to nock some of them down, and Steve was fighting some of them, when three soldiers come out with a little girl. They are holding her hostage and will kill them with they tried to fight. They all get in their knees (Steve is the first one to do so, of course).

S: Let them go, and I'll go with you, no fighting.

Hydra Soldier: And let you little friends tell everyone where you are. Do you think we are stupid?

B: Let him go (pointing to Sam) with the little girl, and in return you get two super soldiers; Captain America and the Winter Soldier.

Hydra Soldier: I knew I recognized you from somewhere. Ok. We can do that -to the other soldiers- drop the little girl and the flying guy on the forest nearby. We'll leave now, so by the time they get to civilization we will be long gone.

The other soldiers do as they are told, and Bucky and Steve are taken to a plane.

B: SAM! CALL THE NUMBER IN MY CELPHONE SAVED AS мать всех пауков (that's "mother of all spiders" in Russian btw :) ) – bucky yells before they are taken.

Sam and the little girl are taken to the middle of the forest. And Sam calls immediately for backup, from a secret mechanism he has hidden in his suit for communication. A couple hours later the two of them are taken back to the tower, and the girl is returned safely to her parents.
