Romanogers - What if... nat returned from the dead?

As soon as she gets there, Nat is able to go inside the warehouse (even though she planning the rescue beforehand would probably be a good idea). She finds a small window on the roof and enters trough there, unnoticed. 

She nocks some guards out and puts them in closets on her way to the cells. She gets there and sees Steve hurt, passed out on the floor, and Bucky, also hurt, on the floor with his head in his hands. Knowing him, he's probably either thinking about a way to get out or blaming himself. Probably both. She gets closer. They were both obviously tortured. She goes into the vents in the beginning of the hall and crawls until she's right above the soldiers guarding their cells.

She ties a rope on the vent and climbs down kicking the first guy on the face and knocking him out.

She does a somersault and gets to her feet again. By now everyone noticed her, including both Bucky and Steve who stood up, eager to see what would happen.

She grabs unto the rope hanging from the vent and uses a guy as impulse to kick another guy on the face, that falls on another soldier, knocking out the three of them. Now she's pissed, full on black widow mode. Shoot to kill. She draws her weapons.

The last three guys try to run, but she goes after them with no mercy. She sweeps the first one of his feet and then shocks him with her batons. She goes after the second one, kicking him from below on his chin.

She jumps on the third guy wrapping her legs around him and punching him on his face. He passes out but she continues to punch him with pure anger

B: Natalia. Natalia look at me. Talia, you need to stop. Please, remember who you are, you are not a murderer. Just breathe ok? Remember how we used to practice? Three in, three out. 

She immediately stops. This is something they use to tell each other to call themselves when they lost control.

N: Are you ok? James what did they do to you guys?

B: We're fine Talia, just get us out of here.

She breaks them out of their cells. Bucky immediately hugs Nat, that is looking with guilt to the soldier lying down unconscious. He whispers to her that everything will be ok

Steve on the other hand is just staring at her as if he's seeing a ghost. He doesn't move a muscle. She tries to lighten the mood.

N: You okay old man?

S: What are you doing here Romanoff?

N: Came to rescue you two. Seriously are you ok? Are you bleeding? Can you walk? - she asks, with a very worried tone

S: I'm fine – he replies dryly.

B: Okay, let's go before the backup gets here – he says noticing the discomfort

They run to the room in which she came trough and go up trough the ceiling. They get in the helicopter that is already waiting them. Natasha is flying it. Bucky offers to fly it for her, so that she can attend to Steve's wound, and she accepts the offer.

N: Okay, I'm going to lift your shirt so I can see the demadge ok? – she lifts it, and starts to get the kit to patch up the wounds.

S: I don't need your help Romanoff. I can do it myself.

N: Look Steve, I understand you might be mad, and you have every reason to be, but I need to attend your wounds. Now is not the time to be stubborn.

S: Huh - he snorts, rolling his eyes - Look who's talking

N: I get it Steve. I suck, okay? Now, just move on for one fucking second, so that I can stich this up. We both now you suck with needles and this needs immediate care. You can hate me later okay?

He thinks about it

N: You know what? You don't have to see me ever again after this. I'll get out of your life, and you'll never have to hear about me again, but PLEASE, I'm BEGGING you, just let me help you.

He didn't want that, he wanted her in his life; he was just mad and was caught by surprise. He lifts his shirt, letting her help him, and she stiches the wound.

S: Why do you even want to help me this much?

N: I didn't almost die trying to rescue you just for you to die from stubbornness. Besides James would kill me if I let you die

S: I'm serious Nat – Nat. she missed the sound of him saying her name – Why do you care?

There is a pause. She frowns, almost like she's wondering if he actually asked that, as if the answer was obvious. (a/n: kind of like in the image in the beginnig of the chapter)

They make eye contact for the first time in four months.

N: I care.

And with that she leaves to go back to flying the jet while Bucky attended to his wounds since he wasn't as hurt as Steve.
