Steve thought that no one else noticed Nat's behavior, but he was wrong. Wanda started noticing the tension between the two of them even before Steve did, and she for sure noticed how Nat was avoiding Steve now. So she decided to talk to her.

W: Hey Nat, can we talk? - Nat was sitting alone in her bedroom so Wanda took the opportunity.

N: Yeah sure, what's up?

W: We have barely seen you this week, some of us (she meant Steve) really missed you

N: Oh yeah, I've been busy

W: With what?

N: Oh, you know just stuff

W: Nat don't lie to me you know I can read minds right. Why are you avoiding Steve?

N: I'm not avoiding him

Wanda just raises an eyebrow waiting for the actual answer

N: Fine ok, maybe, just maybe, we had kind of a moment in the party last week and I don't want him to read too much into it

W: YOU HAD A MOMENT!! THAT'S AMAZING NAT!! EVERYONE HERE KNOWS YOU GUYS WOULD BE PERFECT FOR EACH OTHER!!!

N: Wanda, be quiet please! I don't want anyone to hear this

W: Why not? C'mon don't tell me you never thought about it Nat, I've seen the way you look at him, you like him!

N: No, I don't Wanda, we are just friends

W: Nat it doesn't take mind-reading to see the chemistry you guys have

N: Wanda, just drop it ok? It's not happening

W: Why not?

Nat doesn't answer, so Wanda does what she's best in, she reads Nat's mind.

She can immediately seen that Nat cares about Steve even more than she thought, she really likes him, maybe even loves him, but refuses to even letting herself think about a future together. She understands that Nat does have feelings for him, for a while now, but doesn't think she is "worthy" of him. Wanda knows a lot about her past, more than Nat's friends usually do, and she knows how much she suffered, but also how much she blames herself for most of it.

She tries talking to Nat, telling her she is an amazing person and that Steve doesn't care about her past, but is no use. Nat is not changing her mind anytime soon. She leaves, and Wanda stays in the bedroom, thinking about how to help her friends.

Nat continues to push herself away from Steve, that continues to suffer from it. Nat knows he is confused and sad, and that he deserves better than that, but she also thinks is better for him to suffer a little now than to suffer a lot more later if they get together and she lets him down.
