The end of the endgame was complete bullshit (for me :)) so I rewrote it how I wanted it to be
In this story Steve doesn't go back in time to be with Peggy, but instead is able to get Nat back. Will they finally get their chance on "happily ever aft...
S: Than why Nat? Why? Why did you leave? You left me here, alone. You disappeared and never looked back, like I was nothing
N: DON'T SAY THAT. YOU HAVE NO RIGHT OF SAYING THIS. I CARED MORE ABOUT YOU THAN I'VE CARED ABOUT ANYONE IN YEARS. I WAS TEACHED TO NOT CARE STEVE. I SPEND YEARS AS YOUR FRIEND, TRYING NOT TO FUCKING CARE. AND I FAILED. MISERABLY. SO DON'T SAY I DIDN'T CARE, DON'T SAY THAT I NEVER LOOKED BACK. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH LEAVING HURT ME
S: THEN WHY DID YOU DO IT? WAS THE IDEA OF ME AND YOU REALLY THAT TERRIBLE TO YOU? YOU COULD HAVE TOLD ME. WE COULD HAVE CONTINUED TO BE FRINEDS.
N: Don't Steve you know that wouldn't work
S: YOU GAVE UP ON US. I DIDN'T. WE COULD HAVE MADE IT WORK. DID YOU REALLY HATE ME THAT MUCH??
N: I never hated you, Steve. Don't try to pretend I did. It killed me to leave – She was almost crying now, but he wasn't backing out
S: THAN WHY DID YOU, HUH NATASHA??
N: CAUSE I LOVE YOU, YOU IDIOT
The uncomfortable silence comes back (third time in the day, they should be professionals).
He's looking at her trying to process what just happened.
She's looking down, wanting to kill herself for letting that escape. She had barely admitted to herself that she liked him, she was miles away from admitting she loved him to herself. She surely didn't expect to be admitting it to him.
S: You love me?
N: I shouldn't have said that, I should go
And she leaves before he can say anything. Again.
